We are coming up on Woman's History Month which is in March, so I figured I would write this article explaining some unbelievably strong women who worked hard to achieve their dreams. On this list you will find Oprah Winfrey, Rosa Parks, and a fair amount of others. Like it or not, these women all worked hard to achieve and then reach a common goal, proving their strength. With all the Womans' Marches that have been happening over the past couple of weeks, I thought this article was appropriate to showcase some very empowering women. So without further ado, here are ten inspiring women.
1. Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfrey is one of the richest women in the world today, and she is African American (how great is that?). She is known as a talk show host, an actress, and even a producer! She grew up in poverty and got a full scholarship for Tennessee University. Against everything that she went through, she was able to come out strong and powerful! She is the first African-American billionaire. She taught us it was okay to talk about our weight, our life problems, and other things. She taught us as women how to LOVE our curves, and ourselves! 3. Kelly Clarkson
Kelly Clarkson started out as a waitress. When Clarkson decided to audition for American Idol she became an instant pop star and celebrity. Kelly Clarkson has inspired many people through her music, and her image. She is a great role model for young women. Kelly Clarkson never gave up hope that she could become something. 4. Lady Gaga 
Lady Gaga was a celebrity who started out singing in bars and clubs. Lady Gaga actually started singing Jazz (which are her roots), and later became a celebrity through her pop music. Lady Gaga created controversy in the media because she wore outlandish outfits such as a bubble dress, a meat dress, ect. Lady Gaga is a very creative person. While Lady Gaga came from a wealthy family to begin with (and it is rumored she went to school with Paris Hilton), she did work very hard to get to where she is now creatively. Lady Gaga went through many trials in her life during her career, and is still going through them today. Lady Gaga is an icon in the LGBTQ community as well. 5. Katherine G Johnson
Katherine G Johnson was a physicist who was apart of NASA. She was one of the first African American Physicists at NASA, and one of the most brilliant mathematicians of her time. Katherine G Johnson worked incredibly hard at NASA to earn her position. So many missions went right because of her calculations. Read more here.

7. Tyra Banks
Tyra Banks was a woman who did grew up in a wealthy environment. She was a mean girl in high school, but she was a black superstar model. Tyra Banks loved food her whole life. She appeared in "The Fresh Prince" and made history as the first African American Woman to be on Sports Illustrated. Banks was shot down from time and time again for being tall, and African American. People thought she was "too ethnic". Tyra Banks wrote a book later explaining to woman that it's okay to love your body, and who you are. Here is more information:
8. Irene Sendler 
Irene Sendler was a hero in World War Two for helping about 450,000 jewish people to escape ghettos, and find safety from Hitler's abuse. Irene Sendler was a hero. She was Polish, and stood up for what she believed in risking her life to save others. She was in charge of a Polish underground organization that risked lives daily to save Jews, earning her a spot on this list.
9. Susan B Anthony
Susan B Anthony was one of the most well known civil rights activists who fought to get woman the right to vote. Despite not being wealthy, she was a person who fought to achieve her dreams, making her an icon. She literally had to become a criminal in order to get women the right to vote, earning her a spot on my list.
10. Selena Quintanilla-Pérez
Selena was the Spanish singer who was shot by her best friend. Selena started performing as a child and became a superstar, and an important icon of Latin American culture. She worked as hard as she could to get to the top. Selena was killed when her best friend became jealous over an incident with her fan club.
