10 True Tells Of A Perfectionist

If you can relate to any of these statements, your life is likely impacted by the plague known as Perfectionism.

1. You think that a B is a bad grade.

You may have also cried because you got an 86 percent, and cried some more because your friends simply cannot understand how much it hurts to get a B on something. Your teachers don't understand either. Would it be so difficult to just give you 100 percent on everything?

2. Putting in the bare minimum effort is not an ability you have.

Three to five paragraphs? You mean five to seven? This is credit/no credit? I guess I'll just put as much effort into it as I would any other assignment.

3. You spend at least five seconds bubbling in each test answer.

Because everyone knows that if there are any stray marks or you don't erase completely, you'll pretty much just automatically fail.

4. You start studying for exams at least a week in advance.

SOURCE FYSPRINGFIELD.COM

No, sorry, I can't go out tonight, I really have to study for this test. Which is in three days. But if I don't study for at least 40 hours I'm automatically gonna fail. Come to think of it, nearly everything will make me automatically fail.

5. You're always surprised when you do well on something.

SOURCE FEARLESS-ASSASSINS.COM

I'm so worried about this test, I think I got a 59 on it. Let me just check my grades every five seconds until...wait I got a 95?! This never happens! Excuse me while I ugly cry in the library because I'm just so happy.

6. You finish the test early, then spend the rest of the time going back over your answers.

SOURCE WWW.GIFBAY.COM

Because, y'know, you need to correct all the mistakes you made when you panicked and rushed through the test the first time. You may also have left half of it blank then spent 20 minutes deciding between two choices on one multiple choice question, because the fate of the universe rests on you getting that one question right.

7. Ordinary tasks take at least twice as long because they have to be done right.

SOURCE WWW.GIPHY.COM

Sorry I'm late, I didn't anticipate it would take me two hours to do the dishes. Or do my makeup.

8. You have actually lost sleep over stupid mistakes.

SOURCE PICSLIST.COM

What's wrong, honey? Oh nothing, just thinking about when I said 2 x 3 = 5 on my math test three weeks ago. I mean, I still got a good grade but if I hadn't made that mistake I could have done so much better. Also, do you remember that one time in fifth grade when I said the wrong answer in front of the entire class? That was so embarrassing.

Additionally, other people's grammar and spelling errors may cause you an undue amount of distress.

9. You get really frustrated when you're not good at something.

SOURCE WWW.REDDIT.COM

What do you mean I can't be amazing at literally everything I've ever attempted?

*screams like Chewbacca*

10. Believe it or not, your hard work will eventually be rewarded.

SOURCE WWW.REDDIT.COM

Luckily, being a perfectionist usually means you're really proactive, and having a good work ethic will take you far. However, your entire world won't crumble from underneath you if you take a little time to relax. You will perform better in everything you do if you take good care of your mind, body and soul. So give your mind a break, hit the gym, watch some TV, do some interpretive dancing, drink some wine or eat some pizza...

But most of all, remember that nobody's perfect. And if Hannah Montana said it, it has to be true.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
