As we say goodbye to 2015, let's reflect on style trends and see just how the 90s inspired this year with the help of Phoebe, Monica and Rachel.
1. The Half-Up Half-Down Bun
Everyone thinks it was inspired by the man bun and new to 2015, but Phoebe Buffay rocked it first.
2. The Ribbed Turtle Neck Sweater
Drake may have worn one in his "Hotline Bling" music video, but it was Monica's look first.
3. The Choker
Chokers were huge in the '90s, as Monica and Phoebe display here so well. Chokers took a hiatus for awhile and came back everywhere in 2015. Only time will tell if it's an accessory that will last into 2016.
4. The Shirt/Jacket Tied Around the Waist
The look of both fashion and practicality! The shirt or jacket is tied around the waste for fashion and then when it gets too chilly, you can put it right on to warm up too. Now people wear this look more with flannels but Rachel still looks good doing it.
5. Fringe
From purses to skirts to jackets and everything in between, fringe was definitely huge, and Phoebe thought so too. From out singing Smelly Cat and her other hits to hanging out at Central Perk, she made sure to rock her fringe jacket.
6. Flannel
The '90s grunge look was huge, and here's Rachel taking a stab at it. In 2015, the look really came back and everyone was wearing plaid from punks to preps and anyone in between.
7. Overalls
From girls at concerts to people walking down the streets, overalls and shorter-alls made a comeback in 2015. It's a look that maybe should stay with Rachel back in the '90s though.
8. Graphic Shirts and Sweatshirts
As Tumblr fashions and going thrifting become more mainstream, even high-end fashion brands are hopping on board and creating shirts and sweatshirts with graphics and sayings on them for the people of 2015 to wear, showing Monica and Rachel's looks here may be truly timeless.
9. Corduroy and Denim Mini Skirts
This is a look I haven't seen since the late '90s, early 2000s when Rachel and Monica wore it, but it came back in full force in 2015!
10. The Bucket Hat
The bucket hat was seen everywhere in 2015 from rappers like Schoolboy Q to Rihanna, and even on models down the runway. Phoebe thought the hat was pretty cool too and that's why she rocked her version of one back on "Friends."
With 2015 coming to a close, many predict that 2016 will be '70s inspired. So, be on the lookout for trends worn by Jackie and Donna from "That '70s Show" in the near future. After all, they do say what's old is new again.
Have a Happy and Healthy New Year!
