10 Tips For Surviving Work Week

Work Week: Long days and little sleep, many inside jokes, no homework, no boy drama, delirious heartfelt convos, singing door songs until blue in the face, and becoming close (some may say too close) to sisters.

This is such a fun week to make memories with your sisters, but if you don't take care of yourself, it could turn out to be a very miserable and tiring week.

Here are some tips to surviving work week:

1. Eat a good breakfast.

Last year, I made the mistake of not eating breakfast—don't do this. Lunch does not come soon enough, and believe me, you will need some eggs and bacon to make it through the what seems like endless singing.

2. Drink lots of water.

You will be yelling, singing, and moving around a lot. Unless you want to get sick, I highly suggest drowning yourself in water. As great as that Monster sounds, it's not going to keep you hydrated through your 10-hour day.

3. Have a good attitude.

Work week is a huge week for your chapter. Not only are you bonding with amazing girls, you're also training to recruit the future of your chapter. It's pretty exciting, I'd say! You are guaranteed to have a miserable time if you show up with a miserable attitude.

4. Dress for comfort.

You are with a bunch of other girls for 10 hours who could not care less what you look like. Makeup doesn't matter, because you'll probably sweat it off. Your curls will fall. If you wear a dress, you'll definitely regret it. I'm just warning you. Norts and giant T-shirts all the way!

5. Make it a point to get to know more sisters.

Don't confine yourself to your group of friends. Branch out and get to know your sisters! You never know who could become your best friend!

6. You must bring Chap-stick, gum, and deodorant.

You don't want to stink, and you definitely don't want your lips to fall off.

7. Wear comfy shoes if you want to live.

Trust me, those cute sandals can wait, unless you want mega-blisters and split toenails, I highly suggest comfy closed-toed shoes. Oh, and wait on that pedicure. It will get ruined by the 200 people that will stomp on your feet that week.

8. Do it right the first time.

If you're told to do something, just do it and give 100 percent. You don't want to be the reason all 200+ of you have to start over on something. Plus, your recruitment chair has worked extremely hard to recruit that awesome new PC!

9. Don't be late!

The last thing you need is to be in the spotlight for your lack of timeliness. Give yourself enough time in the morning to eat, get dressed, and to get to the house. You want to be on time so that you can finish on time!

10. Get some sleep!

As we all know, work week is not the week of sleeping in. So, get to bed as soon as you can so you don't exhaust yourself! Believe me, your alarm will go off sooner than you know it.

Remember to have fun with your sisters and work hard! Eat, sleep, and take care of yourself. Oh, and get excited for your new PC!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
