Who’s excited for the biggest party in Chicago of the year?! I know I am! Lollapalooza is one of the best events held in Chicago. Every year Lollapalooza hosts more than 300,000 people in Grant Park for one of the best music festivals around. This has been my fourth year attending Lollapalooza and I’ve learned some really big dos and don’ts over my time attending this festival, so let me share those with you!
1. Get a CamelBack BackPack
Trust me getting one of these is the best decision I’ve ever made! The backpack has tons of compartments for hiding cash for food at the festival, and it has a huge water pouch so when you’re out at the concerts you can always stay hydrated. Trust me, you wouldn’t believe how crazy it gets at some of the concerts, it can be so tough to get out of there, your best to have water with you.
2. Don't Wear Ridiculous Outfits
By all means, look as cute as you want or as trashy as you want, but I’ve tried wearing super cute outfits and all I find is that I get really sticky and hot, stick to something simple like an edgy short dress, or a cut up t-shirt and shorts.
3. Don't Try to Uber
If your hotel isn’t in “walking distance” don’t try and order an uber anywhere near the concert. There’s police on horses and tons of people running around lost and trying to find their uber as well.
4. Don't "Wing It"
Don’t just take the festival line up and say “yeah well I want to see these people so we’ll just try and make it”. No. That won’t happen, trust me. Plan it out, make a list of all the people you want to see each day. Plus, it makes it way more exciting when you know who you’re going to see, because you can get pumped to see an awesome artist later in the day.
5. Wear Knock-Off Converse
R.I.P. my favorite pair of converse. I learned the hard way my first year of Lolla that bringing nice shoes into Lollapalooza is a waste of money. Get Target converse for $8.99 and call it a day!
6. Don't Say, "Yeah, We'll Meet Up!"
I’m just saving you time, honestly. There is little to no cell service in the festival so don’t bother trying to meet up with people inside the concert. Try to find your friends before you go in!
7. Jewelry Is A No-Go
Lokai bracelets, small earrings, and a ring or two should do it. Not because having too much jewelry isn’t adorable, but maybe save it for the pre-Lolla pictures. Trust me, jumping around in a concert is really irritating when you have jewelry jumping in your face.
8. Frozen. Pizza.
Stock up on frozen pizza for after the concerts they will be your best friend and the McDonald’s line is out the door after the concerts as well.
9. Sunscreen Is Your Bestie
Take it from the girl who never burns! I get burnt everywhere at Lolla and jumping around for three days after you have a burn is no fun. So just wear it!
10. Don't Video Concerts, Enjoy Them!
Lollapalooza is hands down one of the best music festivals out there! Don’t spend your time recording the moment, just enjoy it and take it all in!
Have the best time ever Lollapaloozaer's!
