Don't freak out! You will find an internship. I'm currently a senior in college and have done three internships throughout my college career. I've gained so much experience from each one, and I'm grateful for each opportunity I was given. Start early when applying, the earlier the better. You want to get your name in their heads right away so that way you'll be on their mind. Don't give up because you will get something that will end up being an amazing experience. If you are freshmen, start now! It can be difficult since most companies want an upperclassmen to work for them, just keep being persistent and you will get one. Not all people love their internships, remember that, that is okay! This is how you will learn what you truly want to do for your career.
1. Make A Resume.
Create a resume right away because you will need it throughout your entire college career and life afterwards. Definitely don't make it pink and scented like the movie Legally Blonde! You want it to be easy to read and for it to look professional.
2. Work On Writing Successful Cover Letters.
Look up cover letter templates to help you out! If this does not help you seek help from professors at your school. This is where you will display your interest and experience that relates to the job you are applying to. It is a very helpful tool and you should always have one when applying to a job.
3. Do Research On Companies.
Make sure you research the companies before applying. You want to know what you are applying for before you apply. They will ask you questions about it, especially why you are interested in working there.
4. Find Companies That Will Be A Good Fit For You.
Don't just apply to a job to get a job. You want to make sure it is a good fit for you before committing to it. If you end up getting something you are not totally interested in chances are you will be miserable there.
5. Follow Up.

6. Dress To Impress At The Interview.
You have to dress nice when you go on an interview. You want to look presentable and comfortable when you are on an interview. It is your first impression that you will be giving the company.
7. Ask Questions; They Love That.
Make sure you have some questions prepared before the interview. They will ask you if you have any. It is good to have at least two questions prepared because it shows you did your homework.
8. Be Excited And Passionate About It (They Can Tell If You're Not).
If you aren't excited about the position then the interviewer can tell. They are not going to want someone who isn't excited and passionate about what they do. Make sure you do the right research so you know if it will be something that you will be excited about or not.
9. Don't Give Up! (Keep Applying).
It can be hard and disappointing when you get rejected or don't hear back. Don't let this discourage you, keep applying because there is something out there for you. If you do get an internship and end up not liking it that is okay to because no you know and it can guide you into a different direction.
10. Ask For Help From Your Career Center.
If you are really struggling and need help, ask for it. Go to the career center on your campus. Even if you just want to get things looked over to make sure they look professional it is a good idea to take it there. It is always helpful and that's why they are there to help!
