Dunder Mifflin and the world would be nowhere without Michael Garry Scott, let's just be clear about that. Not only is he the world's best boss, the star of Threat Level Midnight (not a comedy), and a former child star, but he is at most times the encapsulation of my very essence. After seasons upon seasons spent learning the foibles of Dunder Mifflin's regional manager, I can honestly say that I've never identified with a character more. Here are 10 times that Michael G. Scott proved just how alike we are.
1. When he was broke as a joke.
I only wish that declaring bankruptcy could really make financial problems go away. We commend you for trying, Mike.
2. When he tried to run away from his problems.
I can't remember a time when I wasn't running away from my responsibilities. Let's be honest, it does feel good.
3. When he was a total outsider.
We've all been there a time or two, whether it be an inside joke or an A, B conversation.
4. When he always wanted others to like him.
His constant need for others' approval is comedic relief for a people pleaser like me.
5. When he was horrible at dating.
If it's a casual thing, then it's fine. Once it is a date, then things get weird.
6. When he always messed up basic social interactions.
Thank you, Michael, for officially making me not the worst at being social.
7. When clothes never fit him right.
Me, in the fitting room, every time.
8. When he was dead inside.
This has been me for most of my college career.
9. When he was always confused.
Again, this has been me for most of my college career.
10. When he knew he was a star.
Aside from being poor, socially awkward and insecure, I am still always the Queen B.
We can all relate to Michael Scott on some level. For some, it is on many levels. Whatever the ridiculous events that were happening, there was always a perfect reaction from our favorite character. We can't help but love him, after all, he's pretty much all of us at some point or another.
