10 Times Food Was There For You When People Weren't

We millennials deal with a lot of difficult problems, from getting a suitable number of likes on our instas to massive Student Loan debt. There are highs, and there are lows in our young lives, and there are a lot of times when others let us down. Whether you seek refuge in a phone call home to mom or prefer to live vicariously through the Kardashians' snapstories, there is nothing more comfortable than-you guessed it-food. So, in honor of all things sweet and savory, I bless you with a list of 10 Times Food Was There For You When People Weren't.

1. When You Didn't Get Into Your Dream School

Screw you college admission offices. I don't need you to be there for me. I have the golden arches. I don't know about you guys, but I'm still low-key on the wait list for my first choice school that I applied to last fall. Go figure. As soon as I got the news, my brother took me to McDonald's AND Wendy's for the perfect chicken nugget/frosty combo. My heart has never felt so warm and fuzzy. Nothing gives you an appetite quite like (kinda?) getting rejected. Speaking of rejection, this leads me to number two on the list...

2. When Your Boyfriend/Girlfriend Broke Up With You

Hurts, don't it? It's all good though! Your ex-bae will be hardcore regretting their decision to leave a dime like you once they realize they can't share that giant tub of ice cream with you. The only boys I need are named Ben & Jerry. (Okay, you too dad and brothers in case you're reading this)

3. When You Didn't Have a Valentine

I don't need to waste money exchanging gifts and going to dinner on Valentine's Day when I could be chugging a bottle of white wine with the ladies and saving dough with that 90% off candy the day AFTER Valentine's Day. #galentinesday

4. When You Got In A Fight With Your Roommate

When you aren't getting a long with your roommate it's hard to share a space...especially fridge space. Oh, was that YOUR chips and salsa, mom's homemade cookies, left over pasta, and gatorade in the fridge? Whoops sorry totally thought they were mine..honest mistake!

5. When You Were On a Bad Date

The company may be awkward, rude, or annoying, but hey free popcorn with the movie or a fancy meal might just get me to stay a little while longer.

6. When You Got A Bad Grade

Were you unprepared for that Spanish oral presentation and totally screwed up your grade for the entire semester? Fear not, for the only Spanish you need right now is some Spanish food. Nothing cools down the burn of failure quite like empanadas.

7. When You Miss An Ex-Friend

Nothing is quite like missing someone you used to share your deepest secrets with. Once upon a time, you thought you had an unbreakable, irreplaceable bond. It's been so long now you just kind of mistake that feeling of emptiness in your heart for the emptiness in your stomach. Anyone hungry?

8. When You Lost In Something You Shouldn't Have

Whether it was a close sports game, or a heated argument with the most obnoxious kid in class, you lost, you're tired, and above all else, you're hangry. Try calming down with a cool glass of milk and a giant plate of chocolate chip cookies. I promise, that'll do the trick.

9. When Your Parents Left You Home Alone

Yes, this can be fun because #partaytime!! But also, how the hell do those evil people expect you to fend for yourself in the wilderness that is an empty kitchen?! Thankfully, your parents left you enough money to order more than a few pizzas over the weekend as they know you are completely hopeless beyond making your own cereal. Open House Party!! Just kidding. This pizza's all mine.

10. When No One Invited You Out With Them

Oh yeah no I totally didn't want to go to that party or try that new bar in the city. It's cool. I'll be here. WITH PIZZA ALL TO MYSELF BETCHES MWAHAHA. #overit

Moral of the story is that we don't need anyone else to make us happy. To get through the tough times, we should rely on our own strength of heart and positive nature...and food, of course.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
