Genius

The new year brings new things for everyone, but I don't think anyone could of predicted Ed Sheeran's announcement on New Year's Day. He posted a video on his Facebook page out of the blue saying that new music will be released on Friday (in this case he means January 6th). With this shocking announcement, many of his devoted fans (myself included) anticipated the release of new music from Ed because it has been almost 2 years since he released anything. January 6th came and he released two new singles, "Castle on the Hill" and "Shape of You". When I listened to these new songs, I was so happy because they are both so good! However, I fell in love with "Castle on the Hill", and here's why.

1. This is an upbeat jam! You can hear all the layers of music.

The beat is nice and the instrument parts are simple and awesome.

2. I also want to go back to when things were simpler.

"Experience revokes our license to return to simpler times. Sooner or later, there's no place remotely like home." ~Gregory Maguire

3. This is me when I'm homesick at college!

Going from an urban home to a rural college is such a drastic change. I was very homesick while there, and I know I'll be homesick again when I go back.

4. The little things about home is what makes it perfect.

“Enjoy the little things in life because one day you`ll look back and realize they were the big things.” ~Kurt Vonnegut

5. I don't know if I did my first kiss right either.

It was 4 years ago, and I'm still not sure...

6. Missing those in my life that I know won't return.

“Nothing makes a room feel emptier than wanting someone in it.” ~J

7. "Tiny Dancer" is an AMAZING song!

I was raised on Elton John's music. He is a musical genius.

8. I don't have a castle, but seeing the sunset over the houses is just as beautiful.

Sunsets/Sunrises are just the most beautiful thing ever.

9. All of our loved ones have their own tragedies, but we love them just the same.

"An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. When life is dragging you back with difficulties, just imagine that it’s going to launch you into something great." ~ Anonymous

10. When I'm away, I miss my home so much.

Philadelphia is a great city and I'm happy to call it home.

Please Please P L E A S E listen to Ed Sheeran's music if you haven't. He is a brilliant singer and songwriter! Have an awesome day! :) <3

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
