10 Thoughts We All Have Leading Up To Spring Break

Get through the week before spring break, then get through spring break and then tackles the rest of the semester.

10 Thoughts We All Have Leading Up To Spring Break

It's that time of year again (finally)! While some of us will make the trek home to spend time with our family, the rest of us can be found at some of the hottest spring break locations. The week leading up to spring break may seem like the longest time period ever, as professors all try to throw in a midterm exam at this point of the year. Fight through this week of hell, and that means you are basically halfway through the semester, and you can celebrate being almost done with the school year all spring break week long.

The week leading up may be stressful, but it is all worth the wait, but here are a few things every college kid thinks about pre-spring break.

1. Destination

Some people choose to go home, but my mom always said that these are the years to travel. Spring break is the perfect excuse to go somewhere hot, especially if your school is up north where it is still cold. Even us "Canes" down in Miami flock to the Bahamas to get a little bit more sun in our lives. And even if you don’t go somewhere tropical, going home has its own comfort (showering without shoes one, home cooked meals, a car). You even have the option to visit your other friends at their schools to get a change of scene.

2. The bikini body.

It seems that everyone, but you has been genetically gifted with the perfect summer body. And of course, you procrastinated until the last minute to even think about it! All of the late night study-break-snacking definitely surfaces.

3. Time to tan.

It is a scientific fact that everyone in the universe looks 10 thousand times better while tan. Whether you get a spray or lay on the bed the week before, you will look so much better rocking all your new swimsuits. And, after getting tan by the booths, you have another week to be a beach bum and get even tanner.

4. Being drunk all day, every day for a week-long extravaganza.

After all the exams that have fried your brain, it is finally time to relax and unwind. You get to drink on the beach, nap, and then drink some more, with no responsibilities to think of. Even better, you don’t have to worry about an RA reporting you for being intoxicated.

5. Random hookups!

What happens on spring break... Knowing that the cute frat boy is going to be at the same resort has an incentive to find him and drunkenly get with him because it is spring break. Everyone will be too blacked out to remember, but hopefully, you remember!

6. No school. No talk about school. It’s as if it doesn’t even exist.

Regardless of drama that has been looming around, spring break means forgetting all of that and just simple, kind-of-clean fun. During spring break, everyone is friends, whether it be because everyone is too drunk or being in the sun puts everyone in a better mood. Do not be the person that brings up school because you will be immediately shut down.

7. What to pack.

Spring break means new bathing suits, new sunglasses, new everything! But the real question is whether you will be sober enough to look decent or if you will go with the flow. It would be rather tragic to lose your chic new sunnies when you got too drunk at a pool party.

8. Is that essay due during break?

Some of us have professors that cannot just chill for a single week, hence they make work due during spring break. Essentially, child cruelty, but there is no rule against it, so there is not much that can be done about this one. The goal is to get it all done pre-spring break because you have to be out of your mind if you think you will be doing anything during your vacation!

9. Financials and possible damages.

With the $3 to your name, what can you possibly do this spring break? Time to beg mom and dad for some funds — if you’re lucky. Also, just thinking about how much you spend drunk at school, the wonders you can spend on during spring break are very intimidating. This is the time to think about how much you can sell your kidney for. It is also the time to ration your money for the rest of the semester. Along these lines, you must also contemplate your possible physical damages during spring break. Will you break your leg? Need a new liver post-spring break? Come back with only nine fingers? Spring break does wonders for your body.

10. Will you make it out alive?

If your answer is a hands-down yes, please go back and revise your entire plan. Spring break is what the guys out in Hollywood make movies about because it is meant to be the most outrageous time of your life. On a more serious note, be safe enough. Have the most fun you possibly can have within semi-reasonability.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
