With Spring Break coming up, everyone is in a frenzy to lose those few extra pounds to look good at the beach. One of the things that have become popular among my friend group is "tea-toxing." These tea-toxes have taken over the Internet with celebrity endorsements and claims of losing 15+ pounds in two weeks. So, of course, I was curious to try it out for myself when my friend asked me to do it with her. Little did I know what I was getting myself into.
1. "I'm going to get so skinny!"
You go in with high hopes. "I'm going to eat so healthy and workout every day so I can really maximize my results!" Yeah... I'm lucky if I have time to go to the gym at least once a week.
2. *drinks tea* "Am I skinny yet?"
3. Day 2 of Tea-Tox: "Does my face look more hollow or is it just me?"
... Not going to lie, I actually did say this after I finished my first day.
4. "Oh, wow, I need to use the bathroom..."
Little did I know just how much I would have to go.
5. "Why am I not hungry...?"
One of the better side effects of the tea is that it suppresses hunger. So I could've drank my tea at 9 a.m. and by 3 p.m., I could have forgotten to eat lunch altogether.
6. "I just love being awoken by my bowel movements!"
It's that bad.
7. "I can't eat that because it'll make me go to the bathroom."
The healthier you eat, the fewer bowel movements you'll have. So you're better off eating a salad than Mexican (because that'll go straight through you... Trust me).
8. "I've only peed seven times in three hours, so things are looking up!"
9. "WHY AM I SO HUNGRY?"
I can never tell, but some days I am starving. As in ordering two meals starving.
10. "This is the longest two weeks of my life."
Even though the tea-tox is only two weeks, you feel like it's an eternity. However, getting to experience this with one of my best friends has made it bearable and has become a bonding experience strangely.
Would I recommend tea-toxing? Absolutely. I have more energy, I'm not as hungry, and I've noticed results already (and I'm barely a week in). Just be sure to learn from my mistake read the side effects before you start so you can know what you're getting yourself into.
