10 Thoughts You Probably Had After The First Week Of Senior Year

Senioritis is my life.

10 Thoughts You Probably Had After The First Week Of Senior Year
Film Garb

Having completed my first week of senior year, I can safely say senioritis is here and its here to stay. High school senioritis was bad, we can all agree on that. I had senioritis my junior year of high school. But I went to private school, where attendance was mandatory and the teachers noticed if you were gone. When your average class size is 15, you notice when someone is trying to ditch. So that wasn't an option.

But college? Yeah, that's a different story.

My private college too has an attendance policy, but let's be honest, its just not as strict as high school was. The professors don't call my mom the minute I'm late. It's especially lax senior year because at this point the professors know you aren't a baby. I had multiple professors last week say "yeah so either come or don't and fail. Its your choice. If you can skip almost every class and get an A still, then props to you."

Here are 10 thoughts you probably had after your first week of senior year:

1. You seriously debated showing up after the first day.

Let's just set the standards real low this semester, so that way you can be super surprised and happy when I might be able to keep up a B.

2. You didn't even want to put effort into your first day outfit.

You saw this puppy online and seriously considered it as a worth while investment.

3. If you did manage to make it to class, you found some seriously concerning things on the syllabus.

,

No one asked me if I wanted to write six 12 page papers all before Thanksgiving.

4. Professors had you searching the catalog to see if there is any other class open.

Seriously, I'm talking to you professor who thinks your 45 minutes of weird and not funny jokes are necessary. Also talking to the professor who thought senior psych majors needed a review of psych 120. Not cool.

5. When people asked you what your plans are after graduation.

Cry? Do more school?! I don't know, what do you want from me.

6. When you realized you had professors with no chill.

I can see we aren't gonna be friends. Are you paying for all the energy drinks I'm gonna need to make it through your class and all the homework?????

7. When you realized you still weren't gonna be able to get out of group projects.

And we still aren't responsible enough to pick our own groups? cool. Thanks a lot.

8. The professors who lectured on the first day had you like

I didn't bring a notebook or pen for this..... I thought we were just getting the syllabus.

9. Its senior year and the textbooks are still just as expensive

I'm poor AND textbooks are expensive.

10. Despite everything, you are happy to be spending senior year suffering along side your best friends

" getting out of class early, Starbucks in 10?" "You know it"

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
