One thing Golden Gopher's do best is game day! Tailgating with friends, waking up at insane hours, and cheering in the student section is just a few reasons why game days are the best days. Here are some thoughts every gopher has had while navigating through game day!

1. Wait... who are we playing?

Let's be honest here, a lot of people use gameday as an excuse to party. Half the time, most people don't even know who we are playing until you get to the actual game.

2. Honestly, I do not know the words to this cheer.

How is everyone supposed to remember all of the words to every cheer? Didn't we learn them freshman year during pride and spirit? But once we get a touchdown, you know I can recite the whole Minnesota rouser!

3. Where should we go to eat after the game?

Going out to eat after the game is a given, and good thing the stadium is right by all the best restaurants in town. Chipotle, Canes, Noodles, Toppers, you name it. Just be prepared to wait in a long line for food since it is always busy!

4. How long did it take to blow up those bouncy castles?

At least one fraternity has a bouncy castle, right? It wouldn't be game day without it! But seriously, how early this morning did they have to start setting those things up?

5. How many people are on that frat lawn for real?

Driving down frat row is interesting on game day. So many students out on the front lawns. How many people can they fit out there anyway?

6. Goldy is for sure the best part about this game.

Goldy is hands down the best part of game day. He is always messing with the cheerleaders and running around on the field. They must have to switch out Goldys like every quarter right?

7. Why are the games 4 hours long?

Game days are fun and all, but how come the games are so long? Standing in the student section for sometimes up to 4 hours can be really tiring. Especially when the games begin so early.

8. What kind of free stuff can I get at the game today?

If you are headed to the student section, there is a good chance you will get some sort of free item when entering the stadium. A hat, a flag, a towel? Who knows this time!

9. When can I take a nap?

Game days are exhausting days. They are fun and all, but when can I go to sleep?

11. How am I going to get this glitter off?

The glitter is fun and all but sounds like a pain to remove later on. You will for sure be finding glitter all over your house for a solid week or two. By then, another game day will be here!

10. I love going to school here.

Game days make you realize just how much you love this school and everyone you're surrounded by! Gameday, best day!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
