We strive to give proper attribution for daily thoughts that we discover every day. However, we sometimes come across a brilliant quote, but cannot find who the original author is, or was. We then attach the tag “unknown author,” “author unknown,” or just simply “unknown” to the quote. This obviously means that we don’t know whose mind that quote came from, but it could also mean that the quote was given multiple authors and it was never determined who the true author was.
To me, there’s something special about quotes who do not have a known author. Most quotes that do come with an author that is known also comes with a certain level of creditability which usually determines if it really makes sense or is even true. Quotes without a known author leaves room for opinions and ideas to be formed without the notion that the particular quote has to be right or wrong just because of who created it.
