As I think about the summer so far, I realize that I am quickly running out of time. I have so many people and places to see before leaving my hometown, and It is scary to think I only have thirty days left to do it all!
These 10 ideas are how I'd like to enjoy the rest of my summer. I find these to be an important way to say goodbye as I start my new life chapter.
1. Go to a museum.
I really want to make it over to the Museum of Science and Industry or the Shedd Aquarium. I feel like I take these places for granted because they are in my city, but I now realize that I won't be able to see what they have to offer until at least a year from now. I want to enjoy what they have to offer while I can.
2. Spend a day with my grandparents.
They aren't going to be around forever, and I am realizing that I need to make more time for them. They love me so much, and It would hurt me if I didn't get to have a long conversation with them before leaving for school.
3. Try something new with my best friend.
We are trying to make the best memories before we don't see each other every day anymore. We are planning to do a Zumba class in the park, and then go try acai bowls for the first time afterwards!
4. Make time once a week for my parents.
Whether it's a quick breakfast or a trip to the movie theater, they have devoted their all to me for 18 years. This is the perfect time to let my parents know how much I appreciate everything they have done and everything they will continue to do for me.
5. Eat at Lou Malnati's.
This is simply the only restaurant I'm going to miss once I leave. If I don't get my deep dish and my ice cream cookie dessert, I will be driving home way too quickly.
6. Clean my room.
No, I don't mean move stuff around so it doesn't look cluttered. I mean, vacuuming the curtains, washing the windows, dusting the furniture, and getting rid of anything I know I'm never going to touch again. When I come home for thanksgiving break, It'll be nice sleeping in a clean bedroom.
7. Work out every day.
A good workout not only makes me feel more energized and better about myself, but it is also a good habit to get into so that I continue to use the gym once I get to school. They say if you can keep a habit for 30 days, the habit should stick.
8. Take a bath.
Candles. Bath bombs. The whole shebang! These are the last few days I have left of privacy and relaxation in the bathroom. I better enjoy it while I can!
9. Get a haircut.
I want to start school fresh. There's no better way to start fresh than with a completely new style. I want to go brighter, and make it look soft and shiny again!
10. Appreciate my bed.
This is the last time for at least four months that I'll be able to enjoy an extremely comfortable and spacious bed. I'm vowing to make it every day and sleep in it every night until I leave for school.
