10 Things You Do On Break

It's Finally Spring Break.

10 Things You Do On Break

"Break" "vacation" and "day off" are words of blessing as a student. It's a day to getaway from school, distract yourself from the never-ending list of stuff to do and procrastinate indefinitely. For college students, you can finally sleep to life's content in a bed that's actually comfy. There's no need for meal swipes, no lines and no limits on times of operations. You are free to do whatever and be whoever. However, there are some activities that are just done

1. Sleep

The ultimate perk of break is sleep. It's the day to not set the alarm and sleep until whatever and whenever time you wish. After weeks of little sleep, cramming for exams and making up for procrastinating on numerous assignments, your brain is finally satisfied by the sleep it deserves. It is estimated that adults need six to ten hours of sleep each day, and certainly, most college students do not get this amount of sleep.

2. Netflix

One of the biggest distractors to students is Netflix. You get hooked on one show, and you end up on a nine-hour marathon. This break is the perfect time to do this. There is no assignment due, and no classes to go to in the morning.

3. Pajamas

Along with sleep and Netflix, there is no need to change your clothes. There is no class to go to, no one to meet and no one to judge how you dress. You are in the comfort of your home. You can go to sleep in the clothes you've been in and go on with your day in the same clothes you were in the day before.

4. Outfits

Speaking of clothes, going out to places is so much easier because you can wear the same outfit multiple times in the week. In college, we talk about how your Monday, Wednesday, Friday classmates don't see your Tuesday and Thursday outfits. On break, the people you see on one day of the week won't see your outfit tomorrow, the day after or even the rest of the week.

5. Make-Up

Along the same lines of clothes, there is no need for make-up as well. No one is probably going to see you, and the only people you are going to see is your friends, who won't judge, on Snapchat. Your skin is given days off from chemicals plastered on your face. It is able to revitalize from the constant stress you put it through.

6. Shopping

On break though, we don't just stay at home. A common place to meet up with friends is at the mall. You don't necessarily have to shop, but it's a time to catch with your high school friends whom you separated with in college. For some, it's an easy way to blow off stress and treat yourself.

7. Eating

Along with going to the mall, you will also go out to eat with friends. You are no longer restricted to university food and limited meal swipes. At home, there's cafes, restaurants and other places to eat. The possibilities are endless.

8. Friends

Break is a time to meet up with friends without any studying involved. You can finally just talk without too much stress about schoolwork. It's also a time to meet up with high school friends that you haven't talked face-to-face to for ages.

9. Travel

As a college student, it's so much easier to travel with friends. More people can drive, which makes it easier to take turns and go farther places. You also no longer need an adult, because you are the adult. Money is also a benefit. Some of your friends might have jobs, so it's easier to pay for some of the luxuries while on a trip.

10. Family

Most importantly over break, you get to spend time with family. After a lot of calls with parents and listening to their requests to come home, it's nice to see them again. Even the sister you constantly fought with seemed to have missed you. Although you want to have fun, there should always be time for family.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
