One of the most important relationships in a girl's life is the bond she has with her mother. Ever since I can remember, I have looked up to my mom. I admired her beauty and her strength, I tried on her clothes and played with her makeup. She has always been everything I aspire to be. I can only dream of having a daughter that looks at me like I am the brightest light in her life. In high school, I never went to my mom for advice, although looking back, I wish I had because somehow mothers know everything. I wish she had warned me about how much my first heartbreak would hurt or what it feels like when your best friend no longer wants you in her life or what to do when I feel like I no longer belong. Here are 10 things I will tell my future daughter (if I have one).

1. Do not date a boy who does not care about your favorite song. The boy who does not care about the melodies that pull at your heart strings and ignite fires within your body will not care if it is 2 A.M. and your heart is breaking.

2. Sometimes the people you cannot live without can live perfectly fine without you. Learn to live without them, too.

3. We are all stories. Write yours however you want. Make today's chapter about purposely taking the wrong train and meeting someone new. Just make sure your story is something you would enjoy reading.

4. I will always try to save you.

5. Some day you will be 18 years old and heartbroken and lost and you will think about a place you've only ever seen in movies. Go there for a week, a month or forever. It is important that you go.

6. There are going to be days when you can't go to school because you'll be too tired from a sleepless night of over thinking. Shut off your alarm and spend the day in bed.

7. You are going to be young and fall in love and there is a chance that will be the person you marry or just another person who will leave you with memories.

8. It is important that you believe in giving people second chances.

9. School grades are an inaccurate representation of you. Measure your life in how many times you have lost your breath to laughter, not how many tests you have aced.

10. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you are not important. If someone treats you like an old sweater and folds you up and puts you in a box with other things they don't care about, remember that you are your moms favorite sweater. Wear yourself like you believe it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
