For "The Walking Dead" fans it seems as though it's been a long time since we last saw our favorite characters taking on their post-apocalyptic world. Not to worry though, there's only about one month left before we will finally find out who got beaten - possibly to death - at the hand of Negan and his trusty baseball bat, Lucille. Following the primarily dark mood and never-ending obstacles thrown in the direction of Rick and his group last season though, there are some things that fans, like myself, are dying to see happen next season!
1.) Make Negan the character we love to hate
Every good movie/T.V. show has one. A character that is so royally villainous that you can't help but love him/her and all the juicy chaos he/she creates! In this case, the enemy is a he and he's played by the studly Jeffrey Dean Morgan, which also helps.
2.) More character backstories
Are we going to get the chance to get inside Negan's head?! Why is he the way he is? Who did he lose to the walkers? Although he is clearly not afraid to commit awful acts, he "wasn't born this way". Right, Denise? (RIP) Or, maybe he was born this way and is just a psychopath. Whatever works, AMC.
3.) Do something with Carl and Enid
Their awkward adolescent "flirtationship" in the midst of a zombie apocalypse is just too painful to watch anymore. We all know Carl can slay zombies, why can't he just kiss Enid already?!
4.) Maggie's baby
According to TWD comics, Maggie does end up giving birth to a son, but the show doesn't exactly follow the comics to a T. Maggie's lost nearly everyone at this point (Hershel, Beth, etc.), if she were to lose her baby, that would just be cruel!
5.) Boosted group morale
No doubt, last season, Rick's people faced some seriously tough times. But, that moment when the people of Alexandria banded together with Rick's group to take back their home against hundreds of walkers, you know you felt something! The entire community united as one and boosted everyone's spirits! For the first time in a long time they felt hopeful for their future. We need more moments like those, especially in the wake of Negan and his army.
6.) Morgan and Carol dynamic
At the end of last season, Carol was ready to let go and give up all hope after losing her sense of self and being shot multiple times. Of course, Morgan showed up just in the nick of time to to rescue her. When they return will Carol be grateful and feel as though she owes him or will she wish he hadn't shown up at all?
7.) LOL moments
I will admit some of the characters on this show deliver some of the wittiest lines despite everything they've been through. However, last season they seemed to be lacking some of that witty banter and they seemed to be far in between. We need some more good belly laughs from Abraham and Glenn!
8.) LGBT couple
Yes, there are still gay people post-apocalypse. Tara clearly isn't a closeted lesbian. We even saw her and Denise shacking up last season, before Denise's untimely death. The moments they did have were so sparse and happened so fast though, that it hardly felt genuine. The show needs a good representation of LGBT! I always thought Spencer would make a good gay guy...hm.
9.) MORE DARYL
Ok, I know this one's a little biased, but how can you not love Daryl Dixon?! He's brooding, mysterious, protective, kick ass with a crossbow, and (deep down) has a heart of gold! I feel like he was an even more central character in past seasons though. Can we please get a few Daryl-centric storylines? Maybe he could even get a love interest?
10.) NO CLIFFHANGERS
This is probably, by far, the most unrealistic wish on this list. After all, cliffhangers are the reason people keep watching TWD. Nearly every episode ends on one. At the very least, don't end season seven on a cliffhanger, not like last seasons!
Until October 23rd rolls around, you'll just have to tide over your zombie cravings by recapping on season 6 on Netflix! Or analyzing every second of the season 7 trailer on YouTube.
Start counting down the days my fellow "survivors"!
