How do you tell if someone is vegan? Well, when you offer them meat they will say "no thanks" and then you can begin asking them a bunch of questions and then get upset when they answer honestly. As a vegan, some of the things that people have said to me make me want to bash my brains against a brick wall. Whenever I drop the V-bomb, I always know what to expect. It's fine if you want to know why I'm vegan and if you are truly interested, but asking me this kind of stuff really grinds my gears.
1. So you can still eat cheese or milk, right?
Um, no. That's a vegetarian. Vegans don't eat any animal products.
2. How do you survive not eating ______?
We just don't. Plus, there's a vegan version of literally every food- trust me.
3. Cows will explode if you don't milk them!
That's not how it works.
4. I only eat humane and cage-free.
You do know that they only say that to make you feel like you're a better person, right?
5. Bacon!
Can we just stop with the bacon? Stop. Just stop.
6. Plants are living and can feel pain too!
You're telling me if I had a cabbage in one hand and a kitten in the other, it wouldn't matter which one I stabbed?
7. What about protein?
You're worried about my nutrition while you're eating a bag of Cheetos and a beer. Makes sense.
8. What do you eat? Salad?
Yes. I eat rabbit food all day long, nothing else.
9. All vegans are angry and think they're better than everyone else.
Stop stereotyping.
10. But it tastes so good!
Sorry, but I don't think eating dead animals is tasty.
