One of the things that worried me about coming to college was the idea of living with a roommate because I have always had my own room. While I have no complaints about my other roommates, I needed to thank my current roommate for putting up with me. So here's the list:
1. Letting me keep the air conditioning as cold as I like.
I love the room cold. Like freezing cold. My current roommates has a problem with the cold. So thanks for freezing for me.
2. Picking me up in the rain.
I try not to bother my roommate with this many times, but every once in a while, I call her to pick me up and (bless her) braves the rain to come get me. She also knows I would do the same for her.
3. Letting me cry/vent/whine.
Well, we are girls so the venting is inevitable. But simply having someone to talk to is really nice.
4. Letting me know it’s OK to “run away” over the weekends.
Both of us are very attached to our families and very attached to our homes, so when I feel guilty about going home she reminds me that it’s ok to go home, as long as I do what I have to do at school.
5. Letting me take mental breaks.
This is another flaw I have, if I have too much work, I’ll run myself into the ground trying to get it all done and end up feeling miserable. She reminds me that after I do a half hour of work, and then I can reward myself with something I enjoy (like watching Netflix).
6. Bringing me food.
Every once in a while, she (or I) will be at the Thad, or Sonic or something, and whoever is there will text the other one and see if they want anything-I mean, that’s pretty much the way to my heart.
7. Being my mom, sister and friend.
She is my sorority sister, the friend I need and my mother when I need her to be.
8. Encouraging my faith.
One thing I admire about her is her unwavering faith. Even when it would be easier to be negative, she instead trusts that God will get her through it which is inspiring to me, who struggles with her faith sometimes.
9. Being my “chauffeur.”
I don’t really like to drive if I can avoid it, especially around campus, so lovingly, she doesn’t mind bringing me places, like dropping me off at the library.
10. Keeping our room clean and putting up with me.
I’m not a huge neat freak, but I like keeping my side clean, but my roomie loves to keep the entire room spotless (it’s her relaxation), which I appreciate because we both get the room clean and she gets her relaxation.
Basically, I’ve had some pretty good luck with my roommates, and I’m happy to say I can live with her for another semester!
