College has been one of the greatest experiences in my life thus far. I have never been happier, than I have been at university. Now being in my junior year, there are a number of things that I wish I could've known my freshman year. Here are ten of those things:

1. It's okay to kick people out of your room to go to sleep

Don't feel awkward telling people they need to leave your space so you can go to bed. Sleep is extremely important, and you can talk to your friends tomorrow.

2. Don't be afraid to be honest

Honesty is truly the best policy. Some people will never be able to handle the truth, but a lot of people will respect you for it.

3. Don't chase people

You should never have to throw yourself, emotionally, at someone. You are so special that an individual would be honored to be your significant other.

4. Explore other interests

Investigate what makes you happy and start developing new skills. It's imperative during this time period that you are a well rounded person. Try new things and share those experiences with friends.

5. It's okay to have alone time

So much of my freshman year was spent surrounded by friends, which was incredible, but eventually became suffocating as I was not able to unwind by myself. Take some time a week to go sit in the library and work on some homework by yourself, or sit outside.

6. Take every opportunity offered

Don't be lazy and decide not to go to that workshop or that discounted performance. If opportunities are given to you, don't waste them. You can grow so much as a person and student if you attend the 'not required but encouraged' events.

7. Ask for help when you need it

I'm a gemini, which apparently explains my burning desire to never ask for help and figure things out by myself. But sometimes you need help, so don't ever be afraid to ask for it. The people surrounding you and your professors are there to guide you with whatever you need.

8. Surround yourself with good energy

You'll have a bunch of friends and classmates that are your friends, but possess a negative energy, you need to eliminate that kind of relationship in your life. Bad energy can only drag you down. You need to surround yourself with radiant people, who build you up.

9. The only person you should strive to please is YOU

Often we are doing everything we can to make someone else happy, for a plethora of reasons. Don't work hard on something to make your teacher happy, this college education is for you, not your parents or professors. Do things for you, not someone else.

10. You will make the most incredible friends

My classmates, who I have bonded with over the past couple years know a lot about me, and vice versa. I am so thankful to have made so many wonderful friends and know we have a life long companionship.

College is absolutely incredible and I love life so much. Undergrad is flying by, so enjoy it why you can.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
