10 Essential Things To Remember As Final Exams Get Closer
PEXELS

Final exams are a headache that none of us are ever ready to face as the semester gets closer to ending. We are prone to stressing out and forgetting to make time for ourselves, and that is a BIG mistake. There are 10 things to think about as final exams approach.

1. Get sleep.

This is one of the first things to go when exams are near. Students will stay up late at night and sacrifice sleep to get in more study time. In the end, this does not help much because then students are too tired to focus on the exam. Please, just get some sleep.

2. Eat breakfast.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and a lot of us will skip it for some extra sleep. You need this meal to help you think better when taking an exam. Plus, no one wants their stomach to make noise during the exam.

3. Study wisely.

Make a study plan now! Now is the time to review all those notes from the beginning of the semester and revise them. You can make a nice little study packet with all of the information in it and look at it over the time you have left before exams.

4. Study with others.

Study with people can make exam week easier. This is an opportunity to learn from each other and it is nice to have the support of the group as well.

5. Go to your professors.

Professors are busy people, but they are there to help us. If you need help, then you should go to your professor. It just does not make any sense to not go to the office hours they put on their syllabus if you need help.

6. Call your family.

Exams are rough times for college students, so do not be ashamed to call you mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, etc. If it makes you feel better, then pick up the phone and call. I am sure they will happy to hear from you.

7. Get some comfort food.

Get yourself some comfort food. You deserve to have something to make you feel better, and a little bit of chocolate should not hurt you.

8. Change your scenery.

Do not stay in the library or in your room to study the entire time. Go to a coffee shop or go outside. Keep yourself comfortable but make a little change.

9. Be there for your friends.

Be there for your friends throughout exam week. Just like you will need them, they will need you. Chances are you both may cry a little, but that is okay because you can cry together.

10. Make time for your mental health.

Yes, exams are important. Yes, the classes we take cost us money. However, do not sacrifice your sanity. It is important to take care of yourself.

Good luck! I hope these last few weeks leading up to final exams will be a little easier if you do a few of these suggestions!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
