How many times have you found yourself sitting alone in a room with nothing to do? Well, for someone like me who lives in a dorm this often becomes a problem when all my friends have gone home and it’s the weekend. Here’s a few things that you can do when you’re sitting alone and bored with nothing to do.

1. Watch Something

Now this may not be idea, especially when you can’t afford to go to the movies or when you don’t have a way to get there; but if you have a smart phone or a laptop, you’re one step closer. Simply turn on your device, find something enjoyable such as a movie, YouTube videos, or even a PowerPoint slide you made back in the 6th grade.

2. Play Games

One thing that’s always fun to do whether you’re bored with a group of friends or alone is to play games. Video games, card games, board games or even just a game of charades there always some fun in a little friendly competition.

3. Have a Dance Party

If you're bored to the point of not wanted to go anywhere, one thing you can always do is turn on your favorite song and just let loose! Having a dance party will get your body moving and get your blood flowing.

4. Go Somewhere

Who says you need to stay inside and be bored? Why not get out and go somewhere? Think you need a car to go somewhere? Well I’m glad to tell you that we were born with a really cool form of transportation, feet! Get up on your feet and go out and find something fun to do.

5. Read a Book

Don’t feel like being very active? Well one way o have fun without have to spend money or move, is to find a good book to read. A good book will take you out of your boredom state and put you into another world full of mystery and allow you to get away for a while.

6. Give Your Room Some TLC

Have you been meaning to hang up some pictures of your friends? Or do you have a pile of water bottles next to your bed? Why not get something done like cleaning or hang those decorations you’ve been meaning to?

7. Color

Are you tired of being stressed from school? Well how about you look up some coloring pages and release some endorphins by coloring a picture of a cool pattern or your favorite animal.

8. Write Something

Are you bored with thoughts on your mind? Do you have future work to get done? Why not take some time and write up a schedule or a list of things you need to get done for the next week? Don’t want to think about school just yet? How about you write down some everyday thoughts and help relieve some stress and clear your mind.

9. Learn/Teach Yourself Something New

Have you been meaning to learn a new language, but haven’t had time? How about when you’re bored. It’s the perfect time to get your brain thinking by having something else to focus on instead of your boredom. And you get to learn something new. Language isn’t your “thing?” How about learning a new skill or now to type without looking at the keyboard? Think of something you would like to learn to do and get started on it.

10. Listen to Music

How many people love music? Well why are you sitting and doing nothing when you can put on a song you really like and sing to it at the top of your lungs? Put on your favorite song, turn the volume up and let loose!

Still bored? Why not try a combination of things that will get you up and moving as well as keeping your mind on different tasks in order to avoid getting bored again? And if all else fails, sleep!

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
