UPJ sees a good many rainy days throughout the year. The rain just does not happen in the spring months, it can happen all 12 months! Rainy days are days where you just want to stay in your dorm and not go outside. Walking to class in the rain is NOT fun at all, especially because if it is windy your umbrella will basically flip inside out. There is no need to be down even though the weather is not that nice out. While I am sitting in my dorm room on a very rainy day here at UPJ, I thought that I would write about some things that you can do! Here are 10 things that you can do on a rainy day at UPJ!
1. Clean your dorm.
Yes, this may sound boring, but you definitely won't want to clean once the weather is nice. Rainy days are good days for cleaning every inch of your dorm room. So grab your roommate, the broom, and some cleaning supplies and start cleaning away! This is something that we all dread, but something that needs to be done.
2. Take a nap.
This is something that we all love to do! There is just something about rainy days that makes everyone tired no matter how much sleep they got the night before. Put your work aside for a few hours and take a nap. You will have a little more energy than you did before you took the nap!
3.Get caught up or ahead on school work.
Sometimes there are weeks where you will have hardly any assignments, and then there will be weeks that you get swamped with work and begin to think that all of your professors got together and decided to make all of your work for different classes due that day! Since it is raining, you will more than likely not want to go outside, so this is the chance to complete all work that is assigned for the week, and even get ahead on some of it!
4. Netflix.
Rainy days make perfect movie days! You can get your laptop out and Netflix binge all you want. If you want, you can even hook it up to your TV if you have one in your dorm room. Text some friends and see if they want to come over and watch some movies with you, because chances are they are just as bored as you are on this rainy day.
5. Play some games.
If you have board or card games in your room, get them out and play all day with your roommate and friends. I am sure that you each have your own favorite, so just play them all! You have nothing better to do anyway.
6. Get together with a group of your friends in their dorm or in the lobby of the halls.
This is a great way to learn new things about your friends and an even better way to make new friends! You can all just hang out and talk, or you can find something to do. I am sure that out of all of you, one will have something fun to do.
7. Go to the wonderful Owen Library on campus and do some studying.
This is a perfect opportunity to get some studying done. Grab your umbrella and materials and head to the library. You will not want to go outside once you are inside and find yourself still in there hours later studying!
8. Go to the Student Union and grab something to eat.
There are so many other choices other than the Student Union Dining hall. You can pick from Subway, Freshens, The Grill, and a few others. Once you get your food, go find a place to sit and enjoy! Get some of your friends to meet you there and just hang out for awhile.
9. Stream social media all day.
This one is so easy to do! You can lay in bed and just scroll through your Facebook news feed, get on Twitter and see what people are tweeting about, check your Instagram, and Snapchat friends all day. This can be done while you are laying in bed or sitting at your desk just staring at books thinking of doing work.
10. Last but not least, you can just stay in your pajamas depending on what time you have classes that day!
If you have one class that day, just put on some comfy clothes and go to class. When you are done in class, you can come back to your room and get back in your pajamas!
