We all come from somewhere, it just so happens that some of us come from a small town in the middle of nowhere. For the most part we've lived in that little town for our entire lives and know the ins and outs of everything that happens. While there are some things specific to each town, there are a few things that everyone who grew up in a small town knows to be true.
1. Everyone knew everyone
Any time you left your house you ran into a friend. Whether it was a trip to this store, stopping to get gas, or going to church it wasn't a short trip because you had to stop and talk to everyone you've ever met.
2. You went to school with the same kids since kindergarten
There were only so many people in your tiny town and only one school, so you really had no choice.
3. There was nothing to do
Literally, nothing. You were so desperate you went to WalMart for fun.
4. Your population doubles during huntin' and fishin' season
People in your town lived to go out in the woods or stop by the crick. They talked about it all year long and you even had off from school on the first day of hunting season.
5. There were more pick-up trucks than cars
It made sense too, you can't pull your camper with a car and you needed a truck bed to haul the firewood for your furnace.
6. And tractors were even more common
You weren't even surprised when you saw tractors in the parking lot at school.
7. Diversity is basically non-existent
Everyone was the same German Catholic as the rest of the town, so going to a big city was definitely a culture shock.
8. Nothing is private
Since everyone knew everyone else they knew the details of everyone's lives. That time you made a fool of yourself and tripped down the stairs, everyone and his brother heard about it.
9. You lived for summer bonfires
There was nothing better than sitting around a fire pit in someone's backyard in the middle of summer, and chances are you knew someone having one at least once a week.
10. Friday night football games were a community event
The football team wasn't that great, but everyone went to the game anyway. You didn't go for the game, you went to talk to friends and talk about how much you hated small town life.
