10 Things That Make Political Science Majors Cringe

No matter what your party affiliation may be, if you study political science, then you know each of the following all too well.

As a political science major, you're probably constantly questioning why you're spending thousands of dollars and 4-7 years of your life in school, when all you need to know about the matter is shared throughout your news feed. Sometimes you come to the realization that you love being knowledgeable in all spheres of politics, government and law, and you're getting really good at leaving witty, passive-aggressive comments. There are few things more annoying than the ten things below.

1. "I don't vote, because it doesn't matter."

If you're a political science major, then you were probably counting down the days until you turned 18, because there truly is nothing more exciting than being enfranchised.

2. Listening to your friends talk about politics at parties makes you feel like you're playing leapfrog with a unicorn.

3. Going on any social networking website makes you regret being born.

Few things are worse than going on Facebook, and seeing your friends and family sharing articles and fabricated news stories that are from completely unreliable sources.

Sarcasm, as well as the unfollow option on Facebook, are for those very special, very politically-inept people in your life. Frankly, if there's one thing that political science majors know all too well, then it's that it's one thing to be apathetic and ignorant of what's going on in the world, but it's so much worse to be outspoken on your uneducated and misinformed (or completely uninformed) opinions.

4. "Oh, you're a political science major? What are you going to do with that?"

5. That outspoken criminal justice major in your political science class basically forces you to consider bringing alcohol.

There's always that one non-political science student in your class, who loves to talk, but has absolutely the faintest idea of what they're talking about. Someone needs to inform them that they're a criminal justice major; not a political science major.

6. Your friends act like meeting a politician is boring and "no big deal."

... Meanwhile, you're starstruck, because you basically just met a celebrity.

7. When anyone says that they "weren't interested" in West Wing or House of Cards....

8. When your uninformed friends or relatives think your opinions are invalid.

9. When no one understands your perfectly hysterical political satire...

10. Being out of coffee (or alcohol) gives you more anxiety than JFK during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
