It's a weird time.

Going to college is like stepping into another world. It's truly the gateway between childhood and adulthood and while in college, you feel like you're trapped in some weird limbo most of the time.

Here are 21 things that happen when you go to college.

1. You lose touch with high school friends.

The first year of college will teach you who your ride or die childhood friends really were. I can count mine on one hand. It's sad to lose touch with the people you once spent every waking moment with, but life goes on and people change.

That said...

2. You change.

In high school, I was a goody two shoes who spent Friday nights inside with her parents watching Glee. Now I...well I act like 21-year-old college girl.

3. You miss your family.

Every day in high school you say, "I can't wait until I go to college." In college, you say, "I can't wait until break. I need to go home."

4. You start to become an adult.

It'll start slowly-- doing your own laundry, getting yourself up in the morning, etc. But by senior year you'll be paying bills and saying, "I can't drink this weekend. I have to fill my car." and have no earthly clue how you got to that point.

5. You stop asking your parents for permission.

It's a creepy feeling, that first time home when you ask your mom if you can go to so-and-so's house only for her to say, "You don't have to ask my permission anymore." The first time that happened to me I was in shock for a solid 30 minutes.

6. People start to treat you like an adult.

You'll notice a shift in how your family talks to you. Suddenly, you're sitting at the grown-up table at Thanksgiving and being offered wine with every meal. Once again, it's a creepy feeling.

7. You start feeling the pressure.

Get good grades, pick a major, get an internship, get a job...the school psychologist may become your best friend.

8. You worry about money.

It's not so much that your parents won't help you out of a pinch as it is you're too prideful to ask for money. Are we kids? Are we adults? Should we be providing for ourselves? HELP!?!

9. You start to appreciate vegetables.

After three weeks straight of Wendy's, a salad starts to sound like heaven.

10. You start craving down time.

In high school, down time was the kiss of death. In college, some time to just watch TV or take a nap is a precious thing.

It's a weird time in your life, but it's the best time if you make the most of it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
