So you've found your special someone. Congratulations! By now you might have already figured out that they're an engineer. This is no reason to panic, but Engineers, as you may or may not know by now, are a different breed of human. Here are 10 things that can/will happen in your relationship an engineer.
1. You learn not to complain about your classes because there's a 99 percent chance his are WAY harder.
Who wants to spend all their time doing math anyway?
2. You don't understand his "engineering lingo"
Who even knows if he's speaking English? Not you.
3. You really try to wrap your head around it, but no luck
Really, is there an English to engineering dictionary for this?
4. Engineering jokes produce more confusion
Just smile and pretend to understand. It's probably fine.
5. You're lucky if you have a science inclined roommate who can help translate
Whether she's helping you with translation or him with homework, she will be a blessing.
6. When it comes to fixing/repairing/creating things, his way is the best way.
Even if you disagree, sometimes you just have to let him do it his way. (
7. You learn there are more types of engineering than you thought possible
Mechanical, civil, electrical, environmental, computer...on and on the list goes.
8. He's super smart, but treats you like an equal...unless you're talking about engineering.
Face it. He owns this category.
9. Sometimes he gets too caught up in life
Whether it's a big project, a hard class, or a tough assignment, make sure that he doesn't get too weighed down by the workload and the stress.
10. He's dedicated, passionate and motivated. If you're lucky he'll transfer this to your relationship.
Seriously. This guy chose one of the hardest majors out there and is sticking to it because he loves it. Don't be surprised if he does the same with you.
Good Luck!
