10 Things That Happen When College Students Come Home For Summer

You've been away from home for so long that your mom has nearly transformed your room into her own personal office. You recognize that like your friend's homes, your house also has it's own distinct smell. You come home with every load of laundry needed to be washed since spring break. You can't believe you spent the entire year living off of cafeteria food after tasting your first home cooked meal. Ah how good it is to be home... right?

10 things college students experience upon coming home for the summer:

1. You've gotten more sleep in one night than you have in a one week span in college.

2. You're reminded of what real food tastes like.

3. You forget that you can't pay for everything in meal swipes. If only lululemon accepted them.

4. You realize that your mom's love for you has now shifted to your dog and/or younger siblings.

5. You've already created countdowns on your phone until the next reunion with college friends, up to the specific number of hours.

6. Speaking of college friends, you constantly stalk their social media and can't help but get jealous of them hanging with their home friends. Don't worry, you're way more fun.

7. Mid-July is already upon you, and you're still living out of your college suitcases. I like to call it "organized chaos".

8. You're so used to living on your own that you get personally offended when your parents expect any type responsibility from you or ask anything of you.

9. After the initial excitement of being home wears off, your urge to interact with other people is at an all time low. Is it bad to turn off your location on find my friends so your friends can't see the absurd amount of time you spend just sitting at home?

10. Before you know it you're brought to the bittersweet moment of packing up and heading back to school. As much as you hate to admit it, there's truly no place like home.

Happy Summer.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
