A good case-scenario would be getting along with your roommate, coexisting well enough to survive with each other. A better scenario would be you becoming good friends with your roommate. The best scenario would, of course, be your roommate becoming your best friend. If you're like me and you're lucky enough to enjoy the third option, you might text your roomie some of these things over the summer.
1. "What do we still need for our room?"
You make lists and decide who'll bring what, and then one of you will think of yet another thing you'll need. It's a never-ending cycle. Do you really need a $35 shower curtain? Probably not, but it's just. So. Cute. Prioritize, prioritize.
2. "I just saw that guy that you like."
*Proceeds to take stealthy Snapchat, taking all precautions not to get caught.*
*Gets caught anyway.*
3. "I really need a hug."
You both do okay on your own, but there are some days when you just need a hug from that one particular person. That person is your roomie, and your roomie is too far away. Cyber hugs, for now, the biggest, tightest hug later.
4. "Where should we go for spring break?"
It's never too early to start planning (and saving)! You plan all sorts of different dreamy vacations, (only half-joking): the Bahamas, the Caribbean, Jamaica, anywhere tropical. Then you break out the more realistic suggestions: Nashville? Atlanta? Orlando? These are the real questions.
5. "How do you make that recipe that I like?"
You can never get it quite right on your own, no matter how many times you've tried (and failed).
6. "I can't wait to live with you again."
Whether you're living alone, with a different roommate, or with your family, no one else can quite compare to your roomie. You know each other's sleeping, eating, and cleaning habits, sometimes even better than your own. Other people just don't understand.
7. "Wednesday nights will be movie nights. Attendance is mandatory."
You'll both need a set day to get in some comfy pajamas, grab a fuzzy blanket, pop some popcorn, and watch a movie with your roomie.
8. "Tell me all the crazy things you've done this summer. Every last detail."
Then you'll have a competition to see who's done crazier stuff or who's had more fun. Hopefully, it'll be you, but you'll still be cheering your roomie on from afar.
9. "Go look at that meme I just tagged you in."
It's just not real if you don't tag each other in memes.
10. "I miss you!"
Of course, you miss your roomie to death, and it would be a crime not to tell them. Every. Single. Day.
You'll miss your roomie every day that you're not living together. It'll get easier, but, luckily, summer is only a few months. You'll be back together in no time, and your campus won't know what hit it when you two reconnect.
