1. Home Cooked Meals
Seriously nothing beats your momma's cooking especially when you're so over the food at the dinning hall and/or you're too broke to eat out every night.
2. My Siblings
As much as I find my siblings annoying, having them around is always entertaining and I do miss being able to go to them to brighten my day.
3. Showering Without Shower Shoes
There's just something about showering in your own shower and not having to deal with wearing sandals, not struggling to carry your toiletries with you, and not having to worry about how long of a shower you take.
4. Not Paying For Groceries Or Cleaning Supplies
I never appreciated having a fridge full of groceries until now that I literally have a water bottle and cream cheese... #college.
5. My Queen Size Bed
Going from a queen to a twin size bed is the ultimate downgrade, especially when your bed is raised 5 feet above the ground so you literally have no room to roll over without plummeting to your death.
6. My Dog
When I'm really stressed out, I really consider driving home just to spend time with my pup. Sometimes I think I get more excited to see my dog than I do my siblings...
7. Being Familiar With the Area
I don't know about you but it's so nice when you know exactly where you are and can navigate yourself without using your phone. Here in Long Beach, the streets are so different than what I'm used to, it's very congested, and I still get a mini panic attack every time I need to go on the traffic circle.
8. Being Taken Care of When You're Sick
For some reason, I've gotten sick more times in the past year that I've been in college than the four years that I was in High School! I miss steaming bowls of chicken noodle soup being brought to me as well as every medication I would ever need because now I get by with making myself tea and taking five cough drops at a time.
9. Family Time
You never realize how much you'll miss being embarrassed by your parents, or having your family to be goofy with but you will miss the little things you were so used to at home. Then again, it's nice when you visit home and appreciate quality family time that you used to take for granted.
10. Never Feeling Alone
Whether being home means being with your family or your friends, you'll never be alone. There will always be someone there for you and that's not always the case when you're living on your own in a new city.
