Double Decker, baseball games, and walks around Oxford

10 Things I Love About Ole Miss In Spring
Sara Catherine Joseph

I love Ole Miss all the time, but there's something magical about the spring.

1. Baseball season

You survived football season and wearing heels. Baseball season you can wear your XL tshirt and no one judges you.

2. Long walks through campus and Oxford

The weather is finally warm enough again and that means long walks with your best friends. I've had some of the best heart to hearts on walks in the spring. Finish your walk with a snow cone from Snow Biz. Oxford is the best place to walk, because you can walk everywhere in town and see everyone you know.

3. Lunch in the Grove

You can go pick yourself up some pimento cheese or chicken salad from James Food Center. It's the perfect picnic. I've had some of my happiest memories doing that.

4. Double Decker

Get yourself a "Big as yo head" ice cream sandwich, BBQ nachos, and Mcalister's sweet tea. It's your first real sunburn of the year and it's so fun walking around looking at what the vendors brought. You can walk to the baseball games that afternoon then walk back to the square for dinner and listen to live music.

5. TCBY Waffle Cone Wednesday

Get yourself a 99 cent waffle cone and then take it to Avant Park.

6. Get a Coke Icee at the Double Quick on Jackson Avenue

Take it the Grove and watch everyone passing by.

7. The flowers around campus get replaced with Azaleas and Tulips

The flowers in front of the Lyceum will make the worst day beautiful.

8. Your allergies are at their worst

But somehow it still seems magical, because it's Oxford and the flowers are blooming. You can't help but love your continuous sneezing.

9. Getting to ride around town with the windows down

The best mixture of warm and cold. Bonus points if you have a Coke icee while driving around.

10. Spring Formal

It's the end of an era. The seniors are leaving and you get to enjoy one last party with them.

Oxford has been so good to me and I love it more with each passing day.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
