10 Things I Love About My Sisters

I'm a cheese-ball who loves her sisters, so I had to write this.

10 Things I Love About My Sisters

I absolutely adore my sisters. I have three of them, and I wouldn't want it any other way. They all have the most charming personalities and, unlike a lot of families, we rarely ever fight with one another.

Sadly, we're getting to that point in our lives when we're all going to college, moving away, getting married, etc. Only one of my sisters has moved out completely and lives two hours away and it's the worst. I can't even imagine all of us living far away and seeing one another once a year for a holiday.

To take my mind off of the painful reality of growing up, I'm gonna write about all the things I love about my sisters.

1) Complaining

If I ever need to complain about anything, I can always count on my sisters. Even if they don't want to listen to me all the time, they have to. That's what sisters do. Then, if I'm complaining about something stupid, they'll tell me I'm being stupid. That takes us to the next reason.

2) Honesty

We can all be fairly honest to one another. Since we've all lived with one another for our whole lives, I like to think we don't lie very often. I can't even think of any examples because we just never need to lie to one another. Chloe, your book addiction is serious and you need help.

3) Compliments

I think my sisters and I compliment one another way too much. My oldest sister compliments me so much, I think I'll explode. I also enjoy complimenting my sisters way too much. How can I help it? They're all really smart and perfect. What the heck.

4) Clothes

Everyone saw this reason coming. All of my sisters are either the same size or very close. I think I'm the most guilty of stealing without asking, but we all do it. I currently have one shirt in my closet that is definitely my little sister's shirt and two that are my older sisters' shirts.

5) Similar Tastes

We all like the same stuff. The same shows, styles, music, etc. My sisters and I almost always watch TV shows together. I recently watched one without them, and I felt weirdly empty after finishing it. I couldn't complain about how much I hated it with them, so I just complained at them.

6) Jokes

My sisters and I can make a joke out of the stupidest situations and we'll never get over them. We have so many inside jokes that it's probably unhealthy. My brother in law often gives us weird looks when we're all laughing so hard that our sides hurt. Sorry, Kevin.

7) Support

Like basically everyone, I've been terrified about my future. I can express all of my fears to my sisters and they can do the same. We may all be scared, but we can be scared together. We encourage one another to follow our dreams when our parents don't necessarily agree.

8) Closeness

There is never an awkward moment with my sisters. We could all sit for an entire car ride without saying anything and it wouldn't be awkward at all. It's unlikely that we won't talk to each other, but it happens.

9) Love

No one in the whole world will make me feel as loved as my sisters. No matter how mean I am to them. It's amazingly reassuring to know that I'll always have them behind me when I inevitably ruin my life.

10) Best Friends

Along with one other person in my life, I consider my sisters my best friends. It's so cheesy and cliche, but it's painfully true.

Chloe, Suzanna, and Ivy, I love you all very much and that will never change!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
