1. Dates during harvest and planting season are in the field

During planting or harvest season nothing (besides God) becomes more important than the crops. This means he may not be around 24/7 like he is in the offseason, but it also doesn't mean you can't visit him!

2. Don’t be afraid to help in the field

He'll love that you are taking an interest in the family farm! He'll love to show you how to drive the 706 tractor or run the grain cart! Who knows, you might just end up helping next year!

3. He'll be a perfect gentleman

Farmers are hard workers, so no doubt he'll treat you like the amazing woman you are! His momma raised him right so he knows how to respect women!

4. You have to be flexible when it comes to schedules

If the cows got out or the tractor broke down on the side of the road plans may be pushed back to deal with that issue. Farming is not a 9-5 job. Always be ready for him to cancel last minute because a crisis came up!

5. Family and friends come first

Growing up on the family farm, your man knows that nothing is more important than family or friends.

6. Tractor dates are the best dates

Riding in the buddy seat while planting, harvesting, or even spraying will be one of the best dates you have! Or perhaps it's even him in the buddy seat and your farmer is teaching you how to operate the tractor.

7. He knows what hard work really means

Getting up at 5 A.M. to take care of the livestock or staying up until 2 A.M. to put food on the table.

8. You'll learn how to be a glass-half-full person pretty quick

You learn how to look at the positives and focus on them. It's harvest season and it's been raining for a week straight? Yeah, he's going to be upset because of the weather, but at least he'll be able to sleep in before harvest is in full gear!

9. Let him play his video games

Ahh, video games, something a man loves at the age of 8 and the age of 48. It relaxes him, something he doesn't get the chance to do often.

10. He'll love you like there's no tomorrow

If there's one thing farmers do best, it's love. He puts his time and care into everything he does, because if he did things carelessly it would be a bad year! That care transfers into your relationship, you'll never have any doubts that he's not crazy about you!

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
