1) You will find your home

Recruitment isn't the best process in the world but nothing beats the feeling of getting a bid from the sorority that you felt a sense of home from. It's truly hard leaving home and not having a comfort zone in college. This can be challenging but luckily for me, my sorority turned into my home away from home and I am truly thankful for that.

2) Your big will be your long lost twin

I was lucky enough to have met my big during recruitment and from the moment we met, we knew we were each other's long lost twin. My big is truly like the older sister that I never had and having her come into my life was truly a blessing. Nothing beats having someone who you can always count on, that could mean a ride to the sorority house or simply someone to study with. Nothing compares to the bond of sisterhood that a big and little have. Oh, and if you're lucky enough your family tree will be the best addition to your life like mine is.

3) The value of friendship

Finding a good group of friends in college is difficult, especially after just moving away from home. Joining a sorority not only brings amazing friends into your life but most importantly brings sisters. It's easy to make friends because you all have similar values and respect each other for who they are. You learn what it truly means to be a friend.

4) Hard work pays off

Being able to help out with service projects to raise money for your philanthropy is incredibly fun and knowing that you are making a difference in the world is even better. Making other people smile is one of God's greatest gifts to us and being able to do that with your sisters is priceless.

5) Formals will be the best nights of your life

Actually getting to dress up in college is rare, doing your hair, makeup nails, actually shaving your legs, getting a fancy dress, and finding the perfect date brings back memories of prom and homecoming. Those are some of the high school nights we all wish to go back to but luckily there are formals for this. Dancing and singing your heart out to Bet On It from High School Musical at a fancy country club with your sisters is one thing that you never forget.

6) We break stereotypes

No, we are not constantly drinking, we are not dumb, and we are not all blonde and skinny. We are women who care about others and will do anything to help a sister in need. We are leaders within our school and the community. We are smart women, who are blessed with an education. We are different shapes, sizes, and colors. We have different backgrounds and beliefs but we have incredible respect for each other. We are kind, funny, bright, and we do make a difference in the world. We are role models.

7) We have fun

We have formals, socials, philanthropy events, sleepovers, dinner dates, bible study, study sessions, and most importantly we have each other. Nothing compares to always having your sisters turn into your best friends. 'We wear our letters on the front because our sisters have our backs.'

8) These will be the greatest people you’ll ever meet

Greek life has been a blessing. You not only meet people in your chapter but also others at your own school and others. There truly is a bond between those who are in greek life, no matter where you are. These friendships and connections will be with you forever.

9) You always know someone has your back

Need someone to get food with you? Study with you? A shoulder to cry on? No matter what you need, there is a sister willing to help. Having a support system during your college years is important and having over 80 girls that have my back honestly rocks.

10) Sorority girls are beautiful, strong, and make a difference.

This one explains itself.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
