10 Things I've Heard My Boyfriend Say This Week

After spending nine months together, there are many common things that I have heard my boyfriend say. Thankfully, there’s still plenty of times he keeps me guessing with his amazing sense of humor and his loving spirit. Nevertheless, I have complied a list of things I have heard on nearly a weekly basis – and if im honest probably almost daily.

1. You look fine

Whether it’s me trying on a new outfit, attempting to get the perfect selfie with him, or just feeling like my hair isn’t quite right, he’s always there to reassure me that I look just fine. There is no better confidence booster than the person you love complimenting and bragging on you.

2. Stop. You’re not actually sad.

I would be lying if I said I didn’t use the puppy dog eyes and pouty lip to get my way. More often than not, it works and Matt swoops in and hugs me. However, he’s gotten increasingly good at knowing when I’m actually upset and when I’m just faking it. “You’re not really sad,” he’ll say as he gently pushes my bottom lip back up.

3. Calm down.

Anxiety is real and sometimes my brain can make me freak out over things that don’t necessarily warrant the extreme response. Thankfully when things get crazy in life and the stress gets to me, he’s always there to hold my hand, calm me down, and tell me it’s going to be okay.

4. Are you hungry?

The answer is always yes. We both share a love and appreciation for food that runs deep. A good majority of our time is spent either eating or talking about what will eat later in the day. He always has a way of knowing when I’m on the border of being “hangry” and when we should probably be finding some food.

5. It’s gonna be okay.

No matter is going on in life, he’s always there to remind me that things are okay. I have been blessed with a man who is faithful to God and prays with and for me. He’ll always reassure me that God is in control and everything will work out according to His will.

6. Hey look over there

If I had a dollar for the amount of times Matt has pointed behind me and said “hey look over there,” only to find there was nothing there….well, I’d have a lot of dollars. His sense of humor is filled with little tricks like this – thankfully, I’m getting better at not looking.

7. You’re goofy.

This is usually said to me after I’ve done something ridiculous that causes him to shake his head and laugh. Which, I am totally okay with. I will gladly be labeled a goofball because he's equally as silly.

8. But I like to whistle.

Maybe it's envy in the fact that I myself cannot whistle very well, but I am all the time telling my boyfriend to just "shh" for a second. More often than not, it's while we're in the car and he's just whistling away. It's just a habit for him and I need to learn to be more patient.

9. Did you know…..

The amount of "fun facts" that have been sent my way in the last nine months is remarkable. My boyfriend is full of knowledge and he's always asking "did you know that..." followed by something interesting.

10. I love you.

This is by far my favorite thing I have heard. I never ever have to wonder or question because there isn't a day that goes by that Matt doesn't tell me. I just hope that I say it enough in return so that he knows exactly how much I love and cherish him. It's crazy how three words can mean so much and make you feel amazing.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
