It seems like college graduates' favorite thing to say to undergrad students is, "You think school is stressful? Wait for real life." I get it. House payments, jobs, kids, marriage. These all have way more real-life consequences than what grade I get on my final tomorrow (yay quarter system). But as I sit here trying to amp myself up for the next round of studying, I remain positive by reminding myself that once I graduate, at least I won't have to worry about these ten things:
1. Sending emails to professors.
I'm sure life after college will contain its own mix of "risky" emails but at least I'll never accidentally insult a "leader in his field" again by misspelling his name in my greeting (it was shortened in his email address!)
2. Someone putting your wet laundry on the floor when you forget you started a load.
Bless the day I own my own laundry machine.
3. The FOMO associated with living on a college campus.
No doubt will my 20s and possibly 30s and 40s be filled with moments of FOMO but at least I won't miss Bernie Sanders speaking because I have a review session (happened to my dear friend at Davis)
4. Getting your classes.
It's like trying to get concert tickets but worse.
5. Your friends being too loud when you're drinking in your dorm room.
Thank god adult life does not involve RAs.
6. Waking up late for an 8 a.m. exam.
If I'm late to work I can blame traffic. What do I have to blame when I walk late to class?
7. Memorizing random facts.
As if professionals don't have access to Google.
8. "Is this going to be on the test?"
Spoiler Alert: there are no multiple choice tests.
9. The grade you get on tests.
I don't think anyone anywhere has ever enjoyed stressing over a single test. And I've never heard a college grad say they miss that feeling.
10. TESTS!
Can you tell that my finals start tomorrow and I'm so over it???
