10 Things Every "High School Musical" Fan Knows to be True

Still loving it, 10 years later.

Disney Channel

It's been 10 years (!!!) since once of the greatest Disney Channel original movies ever, "High School Musical", came into our lives. The movie became a huge phenomenon around the world and basically defined childhoods and middle school years for many. In honor of the 10th anniversary, I give you 10 things every "High School Musical" fan knows to be true.

1. You saw the preview commercials for the movie and immediately thought, "OMG. I must. See. This."

A movie about high school drama? Where they SING and DANCE? Yes please!! You better believe you had Jan. 20 marked on your calendar back in 2006.

2. You bought the soundtrack right away and listened to it every chance you got.

In the car, on your iPod, wherever you could pop in a CD. It didn't take long before you knew every word to every song and you and your friends were singing along together at school.

3. You watched the movie every time it was on TV, no matter how many times you'd already seen it.

Especially when it was the sing-along version. Or the pop-up version, where fun facts about the movie, the cast and the filming appeared on the screen during certain scenes. No matter which version it was, you loved "High School Musical" so much that you needed to see it again and again.

4. You had to see the live concert tour.

It took a lot of begging to convince your parents to take you - and it was probably on a school night - but you knew this was something you could not miss out on. Heck, this may have been your first live concert, how exciting! Too bad Zac Efron wasn't there (he was filming "Hairspray"), but it was still really cool to see everybody else live, performing all your favorite numbers.

5. You had a premiere party for "High School Musical 2."

Whether you hosted the party or attended someone else's, the sequel's premiere was the can't-miss event for you and your friends at the end of summer 2007.

6. And you definitely got all the feels when they graduated in "High School Musical 3."

Admit it, you probably still do.

7. Every time you hear "What team?", you immediately think, "Wildcats!"

It was basically second nature. We all wanted to be East High Wildcats, and we all hoped that when we got to high school it would be just like it was in the movie - without the random breaking out into song and dance, of course. And then we got to high school and realized unfortunately it wasn't like that...

8. Every New Year's Eve, you think about when Troy and Gabriella met while singing karaoke at that ski lodge and wonder if you will ever find someone like that.

Troy and Gabriella were the definition of relationship goals (and you loved it when Zac and Vanessa dated in real life!). Ugh, why can't life be like "High School Musical"?

9. You still kinda remember the dance moves from "We're All In This Together."

Of course, you watched the movie on Disney Channel on the night the cast taught you the dance during commercial breaks. And of course, you did the dance every time you heard the song or saw the movie from that point on. Even now, you can picture what some of those moves were. And you may even break them out during a sorority dance party.

10. And you freaked out when you found out about the 10-year cast reunion.

OMG, they're all back together again! Except Zac. Why, Zac, why? Still, you couldn't help but be excited to see everyone reminisce about the movie - and be a little depressed because you realized it's been 10 freaking years.

I could add more, but then this article would go on too long. Either way, "High School Musical" will always have a special place in our hearts. Here's to 10 years!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
