10 Things I Forget To Thank My Little Sister For

Life gets crazy, and sometimes I fail to let you know how much you mean to me.

10 Things I Forget To Thank My Little Sister For
Molly Williams

1. Late night grocery store runs.

One of us decides we're craving mustard pretzels or Poptarts, and we both throw on sweats and throw up the non-cute messy buns. These rides consist of blasting some sort of 2000's hip hop and zipping through the night with the stars hanging over our heads. It also consists of acting like complete dorks up and down the aisles.

2. For French braiding my hair before bed.

Mom has passed this role down to you, and you don't know how much I appreciate it. I know sometimes you don't want to braid my hair, but you do it anyways so I can have the most beautiful curls the next morning. If only you'd let me French braid yours now! (I'm not that bad.)

3. Being my go-to movie buddy.

One of my absolute favorite things to do with you is going to a movie theater and seeing a movie together. There's something about running to the store before to get candy and seeing if we can make it on time that makes it so much fun. I also love getting scared of the horror trailers together and laughing at the ridiculous things that we see in the theater (whether that be part of the movie or people around us).

4. For jamming out to 90's throwbacks on the rides home, or pretty much anywhere.

Blasting Spice Girls or Backstreet Boys and going crazy with you is just natural for us. This can happen in various places, from the car to the kitchen, and can last up to two hours. Being able to dance like a lunatic with you is something I'm thankful we can do, as simple as it may sound. I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want.

5. For telling me the truth about my fashion choices, good or bad.

Thanks for being 100% honest about my outfit before I walk out the door. While we can have different taste, if your face is horrified when I show you, I know I probably shouldn't buy it or wear it. I owe most of my outfit changes to you. If I'm trying on a new top and you shake your head, I will listen to you 95% of the time. The other 5% you're not there.

6. For being my main source of laughter at boring events.

Not all the time, but once in a while, a family event here or there can get boring, or there was our brother's volleyball game that got slow, and you knew how to make me laugh. If you weren't around, I don't know if I would be able to stand it all. We'll look at funny videos together or dance like weirdos, and you help keep it interesting.

7. For letting me be your big sister.

I know sometimes I can be bossy, clingy or protective. Thank you for letting that slide sometimes. For as long as I could remember, I wanted a little sister. And when you were born, (and we have proof from home videos) I was obsessed with you. I wanted you to do everything with me. And sometimes, I still feel that way. Thanks for letting it happen.

8. For sitting in my car with me, in silence.

There are only two people that I can sit in comfortable silence with, and you are one of those people. Having a sister can be exhausting. Sometimes, we can be together and not talk. And that's OK. We both have been around each other our whole lives and have gotten to the point where we are content just being in each other's presence.

9. For cracking up with me at Vines in the wee hours at night.

The later it is, the funnier the Vine appears to be. At certain Vines, we lose it before even showing it to each other. It can get to the point of one of us on our knees, unable to form sentences. And this is one of my favorite things ever.

10. For being my permanent best friend.

I can go from you bugging the complete crap of me to asking you to go to the mall with me. It's such a different relationship from a friendship, but I love it. Thank you for always being dorky with me from birth. Thank you for being my partner in crime. Thank you for letting me give you advice. Thank you for sending me ugly Snapchats. Thank you for being my little sister.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
