10 Things You Think While Falling Asleep

From breakfast to tomorrow's plans, everything seems to pop into your head.

My mind seems to race the moment I lay down to go to bed. I don't know why, but I begin to think of everything that went wrong during the day and I think about my future and how I will make a living when I get older. Here are some other thoughts that tend to pop into my head.

1. "Did I get all my homework done?"

And after mentally going through every class of the day you come to the conclusion that pretty much everything got done. Plus, you're just too comfy at the moment to get out of bed and do anything else.

2. What do I have to do tomorrow?

Okay, so class then class then another class. Then I have a break, then class, work, meeting, meeting, work, and then homework. Maybe I'll have time to squeeze in breathing. Getting tired just thinking about it!

3. What am I going to have for breakfast when I wake up?

Yum! Am I going to have eggs? Pancakes? Cereal? Waffles? A bagel with cream cheese, or even better, with peanut butter? The possibilities are endless!

4. What am I going to wear tomorrow?

I really don't feel like just wearing jeans and a t-shirt tomorrow, and I think the high tomorrow is like 24 degrees. Alright, looks like I'll be donning that parka I worked so hard to stuff in the back of my closet.

5. I really need to get started on that project.

Yikes, yeah. Since it is due in a mere two days, I guess I should probably start brainstorming what I want to do. Plenty of time ahead though.

6. Oh my gosh! It’s so late, why can’t I fall asleep?

I've tried sleeping on my back but it's uncomfortable. When I sleep on my side my shoulder hurts. Sleeping on my stomach is just feels awkward, I don't know what to do.

7. What’s that noise?!

No matter if it's snores of your roommate or an unusual sound from outside, it startled you and think of what the noise outside could possibly be. Probably a murderer or maybe just a large bear.

8. My bed is SO comfy!

I'm never leaving. I wonder if I can skip class tomorrow? I haven't used any of my skips yet and I have three. Why not? I'll reevaluate in the morning when I'm half-asleep.

9. I already have to be up in six hours!

Now, because of all the time I wasted thinking about breakfast and homework, it is almost time to get out of bed and I haven't even slept yet!

10. How are they asleep already?

How does she fall asleep so fast? I'm just finally calming down and she's already fast asleep. LUCKY! Or maybe she's just a really loud breather. Am I a really loud breather?

11. I'm still tired! Did I sleep at all?

I really don't think I slept last night, I just got out of bed and I already want to take a nap.

12. Playing out fake scenarios in your head.

Whether that means thinking of the perfect someone who will come into your life and sweep you off your feet, or even fantasizing about an A on an essay or exam, we all do it!

13. Start getting worried about your future.

How am I going to get a job? Will I get a job? Oh my gosh, how I am going to make a living?

14. Starting to think incredibly philosophically.

Why am I here? What is the point of my life. Why am I even going to college, what does it matter in the grand scheme of the world? And infinity, that freaks me out.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
