"The early bird catches the worm" is something I was told repeatedly when I was little. Parents, teachers and role models loved to throw this phrase at us in hopes that we would be on top of our work, consequently maximizing a number of opportunities we would have. This idea has stuck with me for years now, and I believe it has turned me into the morning person that I am today. When I wake up, I simply cannot be groggy because I remember the day's potential and instantly become enthralled with the idea of the adventures and experiences about to ensue. Being a morning person has its perks, however, it also has its tolls. Here are some of the many truths that early birds face bright and early every morning.
1. The people in your morning classes hate you.
You start your day off chipper and talkative, but you take a look around and sense your classmates' hatred for your early morning happiness.
2. You've never needed coffee to wake you up in the morning, but you love it just the same.
Even though you don't really need the extra pep in your step.
3. Once it hits 10:45 a.m., all you can think about is lunch.
The earlier the wakeup, the earlier you start to grumble. The thought of having two lunches has crossed your mind before: one at 11 a.m. and one with your friends at 2 p.m.? Yeah, probably.
4. Leaving in the morning without waking up your roommate is most likely the hardest part of your day.
Even though you like to claim that you're proficient in sneaking around your room in the dark, you're still the same old clumsy oaf you always were.
5. Breakfast food has always been and will always be the best.
You're 110 percent willing to challenge anyone who tells you otherwise.
6. Social media always spoils your TV shows.
You can't seem to stay up late enough to watch your shows when they air, so you ban yourself from social media until you can catch-up the next day. #livetweetsruinlives
7. On the off-chance that you stay up late with the night owls, you still can't bring yourself to sleep in the next day.
Why can't we sleep in past 8 a.m.?!
8. You're always up hours before your friends.
It was always fun being awake two hours before everyone else after a night spent at your friend's house!
9. You dread your evening classes and shifts.
No matter how interesting the work, you can't seem to keep your eyes open.
10. When you're trying to call it a night (around 8:30 p.m.) but everyone and their brother seem to be yelling.
Realistically, they're probably whispering, but you wasted all of your energy being chipper this morning.
Morning people: our numbers may be limited, but our excitement for the day knows no limit.
