It's that time of the semester again, finals. Something about finals in the spring semester is so much more stressful than finals in the winter semester. Maybe it's because the weather is nice outside or knowing we have to pack up our rooms and move back home for a few months. No matter why we are stressing out, though, there are a few things we ALL need to hear.
1. Your GPA does NOT define you. It might matter now but in 10 years no one will really care.
2. You are smart. You got to this point for a reason. You can make it a few more days.
3. You are loved.
It might feel like the world is caving in but call your mom and she can remind you of how loved you are. She might even offer to make you food when you get home.
4. It is OK to cry.
Everyone cries during finals week, EVERYONE. If you haven't cried yet you're lying.
5.You are going to make it through these next few days / weeks.
Seriously, it's almost over. Try making a day by day list of things you need to get done to make this last bit go faster.
6. Stress is good sometimes.
If we don't push ourselves to the limit, how do we know how much potential we have? Use this stress as a positive and remember your mental health is valuable.
7. Do not forget to eat.
It's too easy to loose track of time and skip a meal. Go get some ice cream or a taco. You would be surprised how much more satisfying that textbook is when you have a nice snack by your side.
8. Yes. You look horrible.
It's OK though because so does everyone else and no one cares.
9. Sleep if your friend.
Sleep is usually the first thing that we sacrifice. It's OK to stay up late and study but without sleep we cannot retain all the information we need to. Sleep, take a nap when needed. You've earned it.
10. YOU can do this.
Just a little bit longer and you're free.
