As everyone knows I’m black *inserts gasps*. As a young African-American female I’m sick and tired of people making judgement about not only me but mostly what race I’am. No everyone, I’m not the typical “angry black women”, just because I don’t like fried chicken doesn’t mean I’m a terrible black person and also please do not pet my hair like it’s a petting zoo.
If you have something to say that you do not think is offense but in reality it really is. This is not an article about hatred about people making stereotypes just an article what everyone needs to stop and think before the make that judgment not only for African Americans but for whatever race you are. As the famous Author James Baldwin said “why can’t we see everyone clear like water?”
1. KFC or Popeyes ?
I mean hey fried chicken good but we do eat other foods besides fried chicken, also some African-Americans don't like fried chicken but doesn't mean there a terrible black person.
2. I know my hair is interesting but please do not pet it like I'm a petting zoo.
Yes just because my hair is curly and soft doesn't mean you can touch it without asking.
3. I’m so glad you’re my black friend. It makes it okay for me to say the n-word when you aren’t around.
Um I hope you like me as who I am not because I'm black.
4. " You're so pretty for a black girl."
Excuse me? Are you saying all black people are ugly? EVERYONE BEAUTIFUL IN THERE OWN WAY. Everyone is slaying in there own way.
5." I love rap music, is your dad Drake?"
I mean hey rap music pretty cool crank that new J.cole song but please takes not that not every black person is a rapper.
6."Can black people get tan?"
7. "Hey are you happy that our current president black? I voted for him."
Obama half black and half white you guys.
8. "What are the projects like."
I actually live in the suburbs.
9. "Did you get a scholarship because of your background."
No, I got a scholarship because I work my butt off and want a better education for my future.
10. "You speak very well for a black person."
I actually know how to talk normally. Just because I'm black, doesn't mean I can't speak well or I'm uneducated. Not all of us speak "hood."
