The world will not end.

The election will be over, and a new president inaugurated, and the world will still turn. Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner, and those are things to look forward to.

Don’t move to Canada.

First off, it’s really cold and if you’re from the south, you’ll die. Secondly, we live in a democracy and even if the election doesn’t turn out the way you wanted, there’s always next time. They also have a lot of bears in Canada. Bears are scary.

Don’t lose friends over this.

It’s an election. Losing friends over this is literally discrediting the 1st amendment. People have the right to their opinion and they have the right to express said opinion. Simply agree to disagree and move on.

Government corruption is imminent.

Whichever way this election ends, the government will still be corrupt. There will still be people who place the value of money over the American people. It’s disheartening, but true.

We will still be the U.S.

When this is over, we will still be the United States. We will still be the land of the free and the home of the brave. Being an American is a privilege and it’s not something you can run away from simply because things didn’t go your way.

There will always be another election...in 4 years.

Wait it out. Maybe, just maybe, this new president will surprise you. If the president is really that bad and corrupt, then we’ll attempt to impeach him or her. If that doesn’t happen, then we will just have to wait until the 2020 election.

Don’t complain if you don’t vote.

Seriously, this is one of the most annoying things on the planet. Other people would kill to live in a democracy and have the ability to have a say in their government. So if you chose to sit there and not vote, that’s your choice. However, when you chose to do that, you’re choosing to not have a voice. When you don’t have a voice, you can’t complain.

It could be worse.

We could live in North Korea, or in Germany in the 1940’s. Appreciate the fact that even though this election stinks, we live in a country that allows us to have a say and speak our mind. We have rights that cannot be taken away from us. That’s something people tend to take for granted. So instead of constantly complaining about this election, you should celebrate the liberties our country has given us.

We’ll finally know our fate.

There will be no more drama, no more annoying TV commercials, your Facebook feed will be divided between people who are gloating and people who are groaning. It won’t matter though because it will finally be over.

Someone could end up in jail.

Trump will be on trial for fraud, and Hillary should be on trial for risking national security. I firmly believe that the next Commander-in-Chief will personally ensure that their opponent goes on trial.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
