Summer: the most magical time of the year. You pack up your small dorm room and head back to your hometown, where you'll spend three months in your childhood room. You're going to miss being at school, but there are a few things all college students are thankful for in the summer.

1. Making it through finals week

Man, finals week never gets any easier. This week is usually full of coffee, stress, little to no sleep and nonstop studying. After you take your last final a wave of relief comes over you and you will feel that relief all summer.

2. Real food

The McDonald's, Taco Bell and Whataburger late night runs are fun, but they sure catch up to you after a month or two. You will find yourself craving stuff like broccoli. Your mom's homemade spaghetti is one of the best things about coming home and when summer hits, you get three months of real (free) food.

3. Being able to work

I never thought I would be the one to say that I missed being able to work, but after realizing that the "broke college student" stereotype is a real thing, I missed being able to make my own money. Summer is a time where you can make easy money and you don't have to worry about school stress getting in the way of that.

4. Your own bed

There is just something about sleeping in your own bed. I always looked forward to coming home and being able to sleep in my own bed, and now I get to sleep in it for three months!

5. Your high school friends

College is hard, and so are long distance friendships. When you move away, you promise your best friends that you will see each other every weekend. Pretty soon, every weekend turns into every other weekend, which then turns into Christmas break and spring break. When summer rolls around, you have so much to catch up on and it's like you guys were never separated in the first place.

6. Your pets

Going from sleeping with your dogs every night to only seeing them every now and then is difficult. When you come home for the summer, chances are your pets are going to be attached at your hip because they have missed you so much.

7. Sleep

This speaks for itself. Enjoy the sleep while you can.

8. No homework or exams or essays

This might be the best part of summer. Not constantly stressing about studying or researching for your research paper or making sure you have read the material assigned for class is nice. Unless you're doing summer school, that is, and if you are, I am so sorry.

9. Not being in high school anymore

When you come back to your hometown you realize how little you actually miss being in high school. You see all the prom, graduation and college stress and drama and you can't help but be thankful you don't have to deal with any of that anymore.

10. Your college

Once you take your last final, you are D-O-N-E with school and ready to be home for three months. After a couple weeks, you'll start missing your college friends and even your professors. Summer is a much needed break that reminds you why you chose the school you did and helps you appreciate the freedom you have when you are there.

11. Your family

Even if you say you aren't going to get homesick, you will. You're going to miss your family and being at home all the time. College makes you appreciate your family more than you ever have before. Being home for so long makes you a little bit more thankful for them.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
