Whether you're stuck inside the house on a snow day or just can't think of anything to do, boredom is one of the most annoying feelings. You already scrolled through your Instagram feed twice, there's nothing to eat in the fridge, and your dog doesn't even want to play with you. Although it's nice to get out with friends and have set plans, being bored, typically by yourself, can actually spark some creativity. From experience, the following 10 ideas to try when bored are actually fun and productive:

1. Clean Your Room

Personally, my room is usually always a mess. Even when I clean it, there are always clothes and shoes everywhere by the next day. If you're like me, cleaning your room is always an option when you're bored!

2. Organize

Going off of cleaning, organizing is actually pretty fun. You can organize your perfumes by height, color coordinate your closet, or even switch things around in your room to have a clean and tidier look.

3. Write In A Journal

I love my journals. Yes, I have more than one. Journaling can be relaxing and it's always fun to look back at what you wrote. You can use your journal as a diary, a planner, or even a shopping list.

4. Create Outfits

Go in your closet and create an entire look. Clothes, shoes, jewelry, a purse, and whatever else. It's actually really fun to put together outfits like this and you can even save it for your next party instead of rushing to figure out what to wear.

5. Cook/Bake

Even if you don't know how to work an oven, Google it. Just don't burn your house down. There are plenty of recipes and tutorials on how to cook or bake things, so go out and get the ingredients and keep them in your kitchen for the next snow day.

6. Watch YouTube Videos

I spend 90% of my time on YouTube. There are so many things on that website to watch: documentaries, crafts, DIYs, hauls, collection videos, house tours, tutorials, pretty much anything you can think of. You might even find yourself on the weird side of YouTube after a while.

7. Nap

We could all use a little more sleep, and who doesn't love cuddling up in bed? Power naps or even staying in bed all day can cure boredom- you won't know you're bored because you'll be asleep!

8. Online Shop

You can buy anything online, and I mean anything. Just be careful not to go overboard, I know from experience that online shopping is addictive and you'll end up buying things you don't need but you just thought were cute.

9. Research

Google is a wonderful thing. Look up the origin of your name, why the sky is blue, or anything else you may be curious about. You'll find yourself getting lost on the web and learning things you didn't even think about.

10. Take Selfies

We do this when we're not bored. Why not just snap away when we can't think of anything else to do? I'll share a secret with you: if you change up your hair and clothes, it looks like a selfie from a different day. You're welcome.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
