10 Things All Sorority Girls Know Too Well
Kayti LeFrancois

One of the greatest decisions to make while in college is the decision to Go Greek! It is a great way to get involved on campus and create lifelong friendships that can change your life. And once you've been in a sorority for any amount of time, you start to understand how things go. There are certain things that relate to all sororities, these are just 10 of them:

1. Letters Do Not Mean The ABC's.

Letters are something that you wear proudly and hold up in your cute photoshoots; much more than your average letters of the alphabet. And although buying letters is painful for our wallets, the meaning that they carry is totally worth the price.

2. Every Girl You Meet Is A Potential PNM.

Whether you meet her in your biology class, behind you in line at the dining hall, or on the elevator in your dorm, every girl you meet is a potential new member. The small talk that you have usually leads to the mention of your sorority and what you are all about.

3. How To Walk In Heels.

If you don't already know how, you'll find out. Trust me, it's a necessity.

4. Throw What You Know.

This is extremely important in the sorority world. Even the slightest shift of the finger can make you go from "throwing what you know" to "throwing who knows what"! Most sorority girls have mastered their perfect sign and will most likely physically place your hands the right way to avoid this issue with their newer members.

5. Recruitment Week Means Clear Your ENTIRE Schedule.

Recruitment week is the most stressful but exciting week for a sorority girl. The countless crafting nights, hours of practicing songs and chants, and flyer-hanging sessions every possible spot have lead to this moment. The days of the week aren't a part of your vocabulary anymore; instead its information night, philanthropy night, preference night, and bid day. So when that beloved week does come, make sure you are ready for it!

6. You're Always In Your Letters.

Even when you're not, you are. Whether you are sporting that gorgeous quarter zip embellished with your letters or in a plain black t-shirt, you are in your letters. You are a physical representation of your sorority and that never leaves you. Sorority girls know that they must always maintain their values and represent their organization in a positive light! YOU are your sorority, always.

7. Dues.

Sorry bank account. You know the drill.

8. "The Sorority Squat".

This is something that all sorority girls learn to master early on. The second someone pulls out a camera, assume the position. Bend of the knees, hands in the lap, and a tilt of the head equals the perfect sorority squat. We can somehow accomplish an entire group picture of over forty girls doing the same thing at the same time in under two minutes. It is an art form.

9. Blowing Up Social Media.

When it comes to social media and recruitment, we have no shame in our game. The changing of Facebook profile and banner pictures to promote a recruitment event is something that we do on a daily basis. And if you are friends with one of us, you will without a doubt get an invitation to an event; sorry, not sorry.

10. What It Means To Have Sisters.

Being surrounded by sisters is something that takes some getting used to when joining a sorority, but it is definitely a bigger blessing than anything else. There is always someone to guide you through your experiences within the sorority as well as through college and simply life in general. Having sisters means having a constant support system that nothing else can compare to. It means having a family.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
