As a self-admitted chocoholic (acceptance is the first step, right?), I know the struggle (and complete joy) of living with a terribly strong sweet tooth. It's a blessing and a curse. So, if you find yourself nodding along and whispering "same" to yourself as you read through this list, chances are you are also addicted to chocolate. (So... congratulations. And also, sorry.)
1. There is no inappropriate time for dessert.
There's nothing wrong with a chocolate bar before dinner, and dessert for breakfast is the best kind of breakfast. (If you don't eat leftover birthday cake for breakfast the next day, did you even celebrate?)
2. Chocolate can bring you out even when you are feeling most reclusive.
Too cold to go outside and get fresh air? Definitely. Too cold to go get a hot fudge sundae? Never.
3. You never take just one dessert.
Group dinners where everyone is supposed to bring a dessert is music to your ears. Because you will be trying everything on the dessert table. It's a buffet. There is no judgment.
4. You look forward to the next time you get to eat chocolate.
Far too often, you find yourself mentally going through the candy aisle of the nearest store, and you know that you're going to need to stock up very soon.
5. You know the best holidays are the days AFTER the holidays.
All that Halloween candy? The leftover Valentines Day chocolate? It's going to be half off the next day. That is your time to strike.
6. You can never say no to sweets.
You can always start eating healthy tomorrow. But that fudge probably won't be there in a few hours. You know, carpe diem and all that.
7. Your parties always have the best refreshments.
Because you know what's good.
8. Chocolate is your go-to comfort food.
It just makes everything better.
9. Chocolate is your go-to celebration food.
Again, it just makes everything better. What can we say? Chocolate is a talented food.
10. On multiple occasions you have made frosting simply for eating.
Sure, you could have made cupcakes to put the frosting on, but that would have taken another twenty minutes. Twenty minutes you get to spend eating plain frosting. So I take this as a win.
Enjoy this holiday season, and all the lovely desserts that come with it.
