Are you in need of Spring Break plans? Specifically, plans that don't involve the beach? So you like to swim, hike or eat? If you've answered "yes" to any of these questions, this article should be able to give you some fun ideas for places to go this Spring Break that don't involve the beach.
1. Jacob's Well (Wimberley, Texas)
After personally taking a trip to Jacob's Well, I can vouch for how beautiful the area truly is. The cave is about 30 feet deep but holds many chambers, some that are a hundred feet long. If you're an adrenaline junkie, you'll love the rush you get from jumping from the rock. But if you're not about the whole "jumping off a huge rock into a dark abyss" type thing, you can sit on the side watch people do it themselves.
2. Lake Travis (Austin, Texas)
Taking a trip to our state's capital could never be a bad idea. Between the cool thrift shops, food truck park and Graffiti Park, you just can't go wrong with Austin. But one of the best and most famous parts of Austin is the beloved Lake Travis. So bring your boat and pop a top while taking a cruise around the lake or take a ride on the zip line. The possibilities are endless at Lake Travis!
3. Sugarloaf Mountain (Milam County, Texas)
Sugarloaf Mountain is in the Bryan/College Station area and is a great place to go on a hiking adventure. Bring some friends, snacks, and appropriate footwear and take on Sugarloaf by storm! (Did I mention great photo ops for Insta?)
4. Hamilton Pool Preserve (Dripping Springs, Texas)
Hamilton Pool Preserve was created when the dome that was covering this underwater river collapsed due to erosion thousands of years ago. But visitors aren't complaining! But don't give the pool all the credit. The area surrounding Hamilton Pool Preserve is just as beautiful as the actual pool.
5. Balmorhea State Park
Balmorhea State Park is home to many attractions such as scuba diving, a bird watch area and, of course, swimming at the natural spring-fed pool. There are also 34 campsites that you can rent during your trip to Balmorhea. Oh, and Balmorhea State Park is home to the world's largest spring-fed swiming pool — NBD.
6. Guadalupe River
The Guadalupe River is the perfect place to whip out the tubes that have been put up since last summer. If you wanted to bring your dog along with you on your trip, I can assure you that they'd love it. There are parts of the river that are very shallow and would allow them to have fun and prance around in the water. It's also just a short drive from Austin and San Antonio which is perfect for folks from those cities!
So now that you're equipped with some potential SB spots, pack your bags, get some friends together and go explore and have fun! Don't forget the sunscreen!
