Ask anyone who knows me and they’ll tell you that I love television. Some of the people you talk to may even say that I’m obsessed. Obsessed or not I do believe that television is important. Not only is watching TV extremely entertaining, but in many cases you can learn new things. It’s 2016 and right now there are probably thousands of television shows currently on the air. However, some of those shows are better than others. Below I present you a list of the top 10 TV shows you should be watching. Enjoy!
1. "Reign." Mary, Queen of Scots, faces political and sexual intrigue in the treacherous world of the French court.
Oh, boy! "Reign." "Reign." "Reign." Personally, I think this show is amazing. Not only does it feature multiple strong female leads, but it’s also such a layered show that knows how to keep you interested. It’s great. Watch it. Like now.
2. "The Originals." A family of power-hungry thousand-year-old vampires look to take back the city that they built and dominate all those who have done them wrong.
"The Originals" -- great show! It features vampires and werewolves, and witches, oh my! Seriously though it’s fantastic. It has a vicious male lead by the name of Niklaus. He’s one of those characters that you love to hate and hate to love. The show is also big on the theme of power as well as family. One of the biggest questions throughout the show is can you have both? Watch as the Mikaelson family try to figure out the answer out.
3. "Guilt." The roommate of an American student in London is murdered. As people begin suspecting her, they accuse her of the crime.
OK, so technically only one episode of this show has aired so far, but that one episode was pretty good. The premise of the show seems interesting as well and the characters seems pretty likable. So what do you say? Try this show with me?
4. "The 100." Set 97 years after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization, a spaceship housing humanity's lone survivors sends 100 juvenile delinquents back to Earth in hopes of re-populating the planet.
This show man! It’s great. It really is. Think of it as "Game of Thrones" with less cursing, less sex and where less of your favorite characters are being killed off. The story lines are interesting, the characters are well written and the plot is quite unique. Watch it! Watch it I tell you!
5. "Blindspot." A Jane Doe is found in Times Square with no memory, and mysterious tattoos on her body.
I don’t even know where to start with this show. It truly is one of those TV series where you never want to miss an episode. When I tell you every episode of the show is good I mean it. The characters are well written, the plot is beyond interesting and just when you think you have everything figured out you watch the next episode and realize you don’t. It’s great and man that finale!
6. "Agents of Shield." The missions of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division.
I’m a big Marvel fan, so when I heard Marvel was creating a television show I just had to watch it. I admit the show does start off a little slow, but stick with it! As the first season continues to air, the creativity of the dialogue increases, the plot becomes way more interesting and the characters that are introduced are freaking fantastic. Stick with the first season, and once you get to the second season I promise you’ll be hooked. I promise. Now, go watch it. Dismissed!
7. "Unreal." A behind-the-scenes look at the chaos surrounding the production of a dating competition program.
Pardon the pun, but this show is unreal! Seriously, I don’t think there is another show like this one. It’s gritty, the two main female leads are pretty cutthroat and it’s hilarious watching the producers on the show create problems and point cameras at them. The production crew on this show are pretty vicious and yet somehow we can’t help but root for them. I don’t even know what to say except go watch it, now! The show will speak for itself.
8. "Revenge." An emotionally troubled young woman makes it her mission to exact revenge against the people who wronged her father.
When I tell you I was hooked on this show from the first episode, I mean it! "Revenge," to me, is a pretty unique show. The premise is interesting, the characters on the show are beyond well written and it’s exciting seeing Emily (the female protagonist) and Victoria (the shows main antagonist though there are many) battle it out through the shows four season run. Not to mention the fact that there are so many twists and turns on this show that even when you think you know what’s going on you truly don’t; not until the end of the show, at least.
9. "Nikita." A rogue assassin returns to take down the secret organization that trained her.
I was, and still am, in love with this show. I love shows about spies, and assassins and in this case those spies and assassins were spies and assassins against their will, so that was interesting. Nikita is such an action packed show and every episode is entertaining. The relationships between the characters on the show is also interesting because they aren’t supposed to have relationships at all. Nikita is one of those show that when you watch it your eyes are permanently glued to the television. My advice to you? Watch it. Watch it. Watch it. You won’t regret it.
10. "The Blacklist." A new FBI profiler, has her entire life uprooted when a mysterious criminal, who has eluded capture for decades, turns himself in and insists on speaking only to her.
"The Blacklist" is crazy! I know I’ve said this about multiple shows, but this is also one of those shows that always has you on the edge of your seat. We’re like three or seasons into "The Blacklist," and everyone is still trying to figure out what exactly is going on. I mean this show has action, espionage, romance, mystery and is really all around a great show. If you watch it I promise you you’ll be hooked by the first episode. Scouts honor!
There you have it, folks. My list of the top 10 shows you should be watching. Now quit your jobs, drop out of school and watch these shows.
